It goes without saying that high school life is one of the most important periods in our life. It is so wonderful that many people consider it golden time. In my view, high school life, first of all, is a time to gain knowledge and wisdom. To achieve this goal, we must settle down to working hard on all our lessons. Secondly, high school life is a time to learn how to live. That is to say, we should develop as many good habits as possible and improve our ability to live independently. Thirdly, high school life is also a time to make friends, have fun, and learn how to get along with others. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll cherish and enjoy my high school life forever! 【解析】 本文为应用文。某英文网站发布了一个题为“Things We Should Do in High School”的帖子。请你根据所给的提示写一个英语回帖。内容主要包括获取知识;培养良好习惯及独立能力以及要多交朋友。 本文为提纲式作文。提纲式作文首先要审题,确定文章的中心思想和主题,并围绕中心思想组织材料。其次进行构思,列出简单的提纲,安排好层次段落,铺设好过渡,处理好开头和结尾。最后扩展成文。 扩展的内容一定要紧扣主题,提纲中段落结构的思路与各段主题句的一致性。各个段落的内容要统筹安排,避免段落内容的交叉。用好连接词,使所写文章层次分明,思路清晰连贯,要灵活运用各种句式来增强句子的连贯性和表现力,增加文章的可读性。 本文主要围绕高中生必须要做的事进行写作,主要从三个方面“获取知识;培养良好习惯及独立能力以及要多交朋友”展开。写作过程中尽可能运用不同的语法项,为了让文章更加行文连贯可以适当增加细节。但词数要控制在100词左右;

As is known to all, nowadays many students are interested in studying abroad.

Attending schools abroad has many advantages. First, by looking at our own country from outside, we can best see the strong points and weak points of our nation and therefore broaden our minds. Second, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely, visiting famous scenic spots and making friends with the local people. Third, we can use the foreign language in our daily life so that our ability in that language may be improved quickly. But the most important is to learn advanced(先进的) science and technology. For all these advantages, it is really worthwhile to go abroad for education.

However, as everything has two sides, there are also some disadvantages in attending a foreign university. The most serious problem is the language barrier(障碍). Most of the students who are ready to go abroad do not prepare themselves well for the new language environment. As a result, on arriving there, they will find it difficult to understand what the instructors are saying in class. Besides, for not knowing about the customs and way of life of the local people, they may run into trouble in dealing with various situations. Therefore, misunderstandings foten arise. Furthermore, the cost of living is much higher than that in our country, so most students have to find part-time jobs in order to help support themselves. Faced with these difficulties, many students find themselves unable to pay full attention to their studies and some students may even fail in their courses and learn little.

Therefore, given an opportunity to attend a school abroad, one must consider the factors carefully before making up his mind. On the one hand, it is a good thing to go and study abroad. But on the other hand, one must not neglect(忽视) the disadvantages.

1.According to the passage, the following are all advantages of studying abroad EXCEPT __________.

A. having more chances to get good jobs

B. Because they want to make full use of their time.

C. Because they are not interested in studying.

D. Because they have to support themselves.

4.The passage mainly tells us that __________.

A new study shows students who write notes by hand during lectures perform better on exams than those who use laptops(笔记本电脑)

Students are increasingly using laptops for notetaking because of speed and legibility(清晰度)But the research has found laptop users are less able to remember and apply the concepts they have been taught.

Researchers performed experiments that aimed to find out whether using a laptop increased the tendency to make notes “mindlessly” by taking down word for word what the professors said.

In the first experimentstudents were given either a laptop or pen and paper. They listened to the same lectures and were told to use their usual notetaking skills. Thirty minutes after the talkthey were examined on their ability to remember facts and on how well they understood concepts.

The researchers found that laptop users took twice as many notes as those who wrote by hand. Howeverthe typists performed worse at remembering and applying the concepts. Both groups scored similarly when it came to memorizing facts.

The researchers' report said“While more notes are beneficialif the notes are taken mindlesslyas is more likely the case on a laptopthe benefit disappears.”

In another experiment aimed at testing longterm memorystudents took notes as before but were tested a week after the lecture. This timethe students who wrote notes by hand performed significantly better on the exam.

These two experiments suggest that handwritten notes are not only better for immediate learning and understandingbut that they also lead to superior revision in the future.

If volunteering begins at an early age, it can become part of a child’s life — something he or she may just expect and want to do. It can teach them:

A sense of responsibility (责任感). By volunteering, children and teens learn how to be on time for a job, do their best, and be proud of the results. And they also learn that, in the end, we are responsible for the well-being of our whole community (社区).

The knowledge that one person can make a difference. A wonderful message for a child is that he or she is important enough to have an effort on someone or something else.

The benefit of sacrifice (奉献的好处). By giving up a toy to a less fortunate child, a child learns that it’s good to sacrifice sometimes. Cutting back on playing time to help clean up a street tells kids that there are important things other than ourselves and our needs.

Tolerance (容忍). Working in community service can bring kids and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ages, and education. They will likely find that even the most diverse people can be united by common values.

Job skills. Community service can help young people decide on their future careers. Learning to work as a team member, taking on leadership roles, setting project goals — these are all skills that can be learned by volunteering and will serve a child well in any future career.

How to fill free time wisely. If a child isn’t interested in traditional after-school activities, community service can be a wonderful choice.

A.a sense of responsibility B.job skills

D.the benefit of sacrifice

3.The underlined word “diverse” (in Para. 5) probably means “_____”.
