This play is________ a success_______ _t...

This play is________ a success_______ _the famous actress' absence.

A.far fromdue to B.by farowing to

C.above allbecause of D.far away fromthanks to

A 【解析】 考查固定短语。句意:由于这位著名女演员的缺席,这部剧并不成功。A. far from远非,完全不;due to由于;B. by far非常(与比较级和最高级连用);owing to因为;C. above all 首先,最重要的;because of因为;D. far away from远离;thanks to多亏了。根据语境“the famous actress' absence”可知,这部剧不成功,因此第一空应该填far from;第二空可填due to或owing to 或because of。故选A项。

Last year I happened to make some woolen blankets. While the frost hit, I handed it out to fellow homeless people. It was a brief experience and positive. Throughout the winter, I made about dozens people's mornings with a clean new blanket. Yesterday, around a year later, I saw a homeless person walked down the street aimless with one of those blankets. I'm sure I've ever seen him before so that blanket went on a journey and is still providing a comfort to someone else. Now I'm not homeless anymore and thinking of that really brighten my day. I just wish I have some more wool now.

Get along with your roommate

While sharing a dorm with someone else is challenging, it can also be a great part of your learning experience.

◆Clarify your expectations from the beginning. Do you know in advance that the alarm clock bothers you every morning? 1.Let your roommate know about your habits and preferences. Communicating what you need is one of the best ways to remove problems before they become problems.

◆Address problems when they' re little. 2. Are your clothes being borrowed faster than you can wash them? Addressing things that disturb you while they' re still little can help your roommate realize something is wrong. And it is much easier than addressing them after they've become big.

3. This may seem simple, but it’s probably one of the biggest reasons why roommates experience conflict. Don't you think he'll mind if you borrow his sneakers for a game? Don't borrow, use or take anything without getting permission first.

◆Be open to new things. Your roommate may be from someplace you've never heard of. They may have a religion or lifestyle that is completely different from your own. Be open to new ideas and experiences, especially as it relates to what your roommate brings into your life. 4.

◆Stay open to change. You should expect to learn and grow and change during your time at school. And the same should happen to your roommate.5. Be comfortable addressing things that unexpectedly come up, setting new rules and being flexible to your changing environment.

A.Respect your roommate's stuff.

B.Find a solution that works for both of you.

C.That's why you went to school in the first place, right?

D.You may love having your study group into your room.

E.As the semester progresses, realize things will change for both of you.
