下面文章中有3处需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(ABCD)中选出符合各段意思的小标题,并在答题卡上将相应选项的标号涂黑。选项中有一项是多余选项。

Think of the body like a school. At the top of the school is the headmaster, known as the brain. This is the organ that controls the rest of the organs, just like the headmaster controls the school. After this comes the heart. It is like a teacher. This organ pumps the blood around the body so it can run well. 1. Next is the liver, which is the only one that can regrow itself. It helps to clean the blood. This is like the knowledge students get from teachers. Students always grow with newly found knowledge. The lungs are the organs of the body that use the oxygen we breathe. Think of the oxygen as the life we lead at school. The stomach is very useful as it stores the food we eat until we can digest it properly. 2. We store the information until we need to use it. So this organ is like a notebook. The kidneys are the organs that remove waste products from the blood and produce urine. 3. Now you can see how similar our school life is to our body and we can look after them both.

A.They are like the cleaners, repairmen and security guards who look after our school.

B.This is similar to the learning process.

C.This is what we learn at school.

D.This is similar to the knowledge a teacher gives to students.

Howard Carter is one of the most famous explorers the world has ever known. He didn’t go to school, but he was bright and curious about the world outside his home town. In 1891, at the age of 17, he set sail for Alexandria, Egypt. By the 1920s, he had become an explorer, searching for the tombs of the Egyptian kings. Inside the tombs, he discovered a great fortune in jewels and gold, along with the preserved bodies of dead kings. In 1922, Howard Carter made his most amazing discovery of all, in the Valley of the Kings, in Egypt. There they came across the tomb of King Tutankhamun. It was the most important tomb that had ever been found. “The tomb contained more treasure than any of us had ever seen before, as well as the mummy of the king,” said Carter.

However, not long after the discovery, people in Carter’s team fell ill and died. Upon their entering the tomb, Carter’s lucky pet bird was swallowed by a snake. Lord Carnarvon, who was also present when the tomb was opened, fell ill with a fever and died in Egypt. George Gould, a friend of Carnarvon’s, went to Egypt after hearing of his strange death. He too visited the tomb, only to catch a high fever the next day. Twelve hours later, he was dead.

Within 7 years, 21 people who had something to do with the opening the tomb died. Howard Carter, however, lived on until the age of 65. There are different explanations for the deaths. A scientific explanation is that inside the tombs there are many viruses, which can result in illness or even death. Today when scientists examine mummies, they wear special clothing for protection.

Could it be your after-dinner coffee that keeps you awake at night? Perhaps you are one of those people who simply can’t take coffee in the evening, because the caffeine(咖啡因)in it makes you excited. Coffee with caffeine does make some people restless, just when they want to go to sleep. So, before you rush to the doctor for “something to make you sleep”, change over to H.A.G.—a new kind of caffeine—free coffee, the nicest coffee so far. This kind of coffee is made by modern scientific methods and has come to the perfection for the greatest pleasure that drinking good coffee gives, but without any harmful effects. H.A.G. is the coffee that continental people, who are such great coffee drinkers, have been taking in the evenings for over 50 years. Make your choice of H.A.G.. Enjoy good coffee and good sleep. Health food stores and most groceries have H.A.G. coffee. If there is any difficulty, send (with your name and address) for free sample(样品)from the A.A. SUPPLY CO. On Aug. 21, I was writing a composition titling “My Hero/Heroine”. I stuck at the beginning, trying to find out what would be my hero/heroine.

Attracted by the cheers from the living room, I opened the door only to find my parents were watching the volleyball matches of women’s final. Then I decided to take the break and joined in them. The score was quite closely between China and its opponent.

To our delight, China won in the end. We couldn’t help feel proud as Chinese! The volleyball players had trained so hard before and fight till the last minute. Without doubt, they were not only my heroines, and the heroines of China! I started to write my composition.
