Many college students complain about dor...

Many college students complain about dormitory life a sweltering room without airconditioning in summer and a dormitory gate which is closed at 11 pm. But they may miss their dormitories after graduationwhen they have to spend as much as a third of their income renting a shabby room.

The rising prices of daily necessities including food water gas and electricity are also making graduates save every penny to make ends meet.

Faced with the high cost of living college graduates need to make every penny work when they budget their income.

When it comes to renting try to spend no more than one third of your income on it.Better still only spend a quarter according to Hao Qian a career consultant(咨询师).

Hao also reminds graduates to set aside about one fifth of their income for social activities. "People have spent more on their social lives because of changes in forms of entertainment"said Hao. For example new friends may want to meet you at a quiet club instead of at a noisy house.

In spite of the high cost of living many college graduates still try to stay in big cities. They usually work in industries such as finance public relations and IT which depend on a booming city economy and technology.

Hao advises such graduates to reduce their expenditure on shopping as much as possible."If you are not in jobs such as PR and sales which require you to dress well you don't need to spend much on clothes and " accessories " said Hao."Spend less than one eighth of your monthly income on shopping. "

根据第四段中的“When it comes to renting…no more than one third of your income on it.Better still, only spend a quarter”;第四段中的第一句;第五段中的第一句和最后一段中的最后一句可知,根据职业顾问Hao Qian的说法,租房尽量不要超过你收入的三分之一,最好是只花四分之一;五分之一用来参加社交活动;购物不要超过八分之一。由此可以推知,房租占了收入的大部分。故选D。 3.推理判断题。文章主要分析了大学生毕业后收入的可能分配情况。文章第一段以房租为例,引出文章的话题。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据倒数第三段中的“People have spent more on their social lives because of changes in forms of entertainment,"said Hao. For example, new friends may want to meet you at a quiet club instead of at a noisy house."”

The impression you make at the beginning of an interview is very important. Employers often decide to hire someone in the first three minutes of the interview. They judge you by your appearance, attitude and manners.

A friendly smile when you walk into the room is important. A smile shows a confident and positive attitude.

When you introduce yourself, make eye contact with the interviewer. Some interviewers offer a handshake. Others don't.

Try to be as natural as possible. But pay attention to your body language. The way you sit, walk, gesture, use your voice and show feelings on your face is all part of your body language. It makes the interviewer know how you feel about yourself and the situation you are in. Are you feeling positively about yourself? Your abilities? Your interest in the job?

Speak clearly and loudly enough. Show interest and enthusiasm in your voice. When you speak, look at the interviewer. Also, don't say negative things about yourself, or former employer.

Listen to questions carefully. If you don't understand a question, ask the interviewer to repeat or explain:

"I'm sorry, but I didn't catch that. "

"I'm not sure exactly what you mean. "

Almost everyone is nervous in a job interview. Interviewers know that. They don't expect you to be totally calm and relaxed. But they expect you to try to control your nervousness. They expect you to show confidence in your ability to do the job.

At the end of the interview, thank the interviewer for her or his time.

It's a good idea to send a short thank-you letter right after the interview, or deliver it by hand.

Phone the company if you have not heard anything after one week. Ask if they have made a decision about the job.

Good luck!

“Don’t answer it,” I said to Sam. Our door in the inner city is constantly knocked on; our previous door in the suburbs rarely so. Sam has a full-time job and cannot spend his days answering requests to fix leaking baths or carry cash to the bank.

Sam opened the door and it was Mervin.

“There’s a bird on the second floor,” he said. “It’s in trouble.”

Sam followed Mervin upstairs. Mervin pointed and turned to let Sam look. It was a pigeon, the most common of all birds, the bird most likely to foul (弄脏) your newly washed car. And

it wasn’t flying away. It was stamping in circles. As Sam bent to look, Mervin coughed, “Number two.”

Sam asked him to repeat that. “Number two,” Mervin said. "The pigeon has been sitting in his own number two, and now it’s stuck to his foot.”

It had rained for five days, and the bird was young. It could have been sheltering in a wet nest of its own waste, which had then dried on its foot, preventing it from flying away. The pigeon moved in a few more circles. Sam bent to take another look. Mervin said, “All right, then.” and walked away.

“Why does everyone think you must solve the problems around here?” I said to Sam when he returned with his story. “It’s a bird. Just leave it on the stairs, and let nature take its course.” Sam didn’t agree. Then he went to the garage and emptied the cardboard box containing our imported camping mats. He returned with the gray pigeon in the box. He showed the bird to our children and they decided to keep it.

They put its foot in the warm water bath and got rid of its waste. Immediately the pigeon erupted in a bomb of feathers and began flying.

1.How did the author feel about the knocks?

A.She felt bored. B.She was frightened.

C.She got excited. D.She was surprised.

2.Why was the pigeon moving in circles?

A.It was learning to fly.

B.It was badly injured.

C.It got caught in the rain.

D.It was trapped by its waste.

3.What did Sam use the cardboard box to do?

A.Shelter from rain.

B.Give it to Mervin.

C.Wash camping mats.

D.Make a nest for the bird.

4.What can we learn about Sam from the text?

A.He was brave. B.He was clever.

C.He was warm-hearted. D.He was easy-going.

Our Teen Summer Spanish Program is two weeks of fun, educational excitement that helps students learn Spanish fast. Our Spanish summer program allows our students to learn from highly trained, certified teachers and be absorbed in the language and the culture of Costa Rica.

Features include:

* Intensive(强化的) daily Spanish classes

* Extracurricular classes in dance, cooking, music, and handiwork

* Outdoor activities including hiking, camping, rafting, and ziplining(高空滑索)

* Homestay with a local Costa Rican family

* Volunteer work in needy neighborhoods

Our Teaching Methods:

We are proud to use TPRS---Total Physical Response Storytelling---in our curriculum. This innovative method uses strange and amusing stories to teach new vocabulary, increase fluency, and get students involved by giving them the opportunity to alter the details themselves. Because of the silliness, creativity, and repetition involved, TPRS allows students to learn easily and remember information effortlessly

Memorizing vocabulary and listening to lectures on grammar are slow, inefficient ways to learn a new language. The best way to truly learn and commit new material to memory is through conversation. In our Spanish classes, students can expect to speak up to 80% of each class. By speaking in the new language freely and consistently, students can see progress faster because they are using the new grammar and vocabulary that they have learned at the same time. This helps the brain remember the new words and grammar structures for future use, making it much easier to progress.

1.What does the program do?

A.It offers weekly Spanish classes

B.It focuses more on outdoor activities

C.It gives teachers a chance to receive training

D.It provides activities about the Spanish culture

2.What is the best way to learn a language according to the text?

A.Memorizing a larger vocabulary

B.Speaking more in the new language.

C.Mastering more grammar structures

D.Writing stories to share with others

3.What is the purpose of the text?

A.To employ experienced Spanish teacher

B.To hire foreign volunteers for a program

Bales left the pavement of Base Road and stepped onto snow-covered Jewell Trail. She planned a six-hour hike through New Hampshire’s Mount Washington State Park. She had packed for almost every emergency and intended to walk alone.

She’d checked the weather forecast posted by the Mount Washington Observatory before she left. Based on her experience, Bales knew that her hike was realistic. Besides, she had two emergency plans and extra layers of clothing to better adjust her body temperature as conditions changed.

The hike up the lower part of Jewell Trail was pleasant. Bales felt excited as she walked up into snowy paths. The sun shone through the trees and cast a shadow over her smiling face. Less than an hour later, loads of dark clouds had replaced the sunshine, and snow covered the surrounding trees.

She still smiled. However, the weather was showing its teeth. Bales added even more layers to shelter herself from the cold winds and thick fog. She made her way across the snow-covered ridge (山脊toward Mount Washington and began to think about calling it a day. Suddenly, she noticed something: a single set of footprints in the snow ahead of her, which had been made by a pair of sneakers-typically not the type for hiking.

Meanwhile, Bales was getting colder, even though she was moving fast and generating some body heat. With strong gusts of wind screaming and attacking her back and left side, she decided to abandon her plan. The only thing, however, kept her on the trail was the sneaker tracks in the snow.

Paragraph 1:

Bales faced a dilemma about whether to follow the tracks or not.
