阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写两段,使之构成一个完整的故事。 Once, when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus. Finally, there was only one family between us and the ticket counter. This family made a big impression on me. There were eight children, all probably under the age of twelve. You could tell they didn’t have a lot of money. Their clothes were not expensive, but they were clean. The children were well-behaved, all of them standing in line, two-by-two behind their parents, holding hands. They were excitedly talking about the clowns, elephants, and other acts they would see that night with their brothers or sisters in a low voice. One could sense they had never been to the circus before. It promised to be highlight of their young lives. The father and mother were at the head of the pack, standing proud as could be. The mother was holding her husband’s hand, looking up at him as if to say, “You are my knight in shining armor.” He was smiling and responding in pride, looking back at her as if to say, “You got that right.” The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted. He proudly responded, “Please let me buy eight children’s tickets and two adult tickets so I can take my family to the circus.” The ticket lady gave the price. The man’s wife let go of his hand, her head dropped, and his lips began to shake. The father leaned a little closer and asked, “How much did you say?” The ticket lady again gave the price. The man didn’t have enough money. How was he supposed to turn and tell his eight children that he didn’t have enough money to take them to the circus? Actually we were not wealthy in any sense. So I understand how the kids would feel. I felt sorry for them. 注意: 1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好; Paragraph 1 Seeing what was going on, my dad put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a $20 bill and dropped it on the ground. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2 That day my father and I went back to our car and drove home without any tickets. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

根据短文内容,从文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Do Well in ExamsDo not underestimate(低估) the power of revision in the days and hours before an examination. The closer you are to the exam, the more chance you have of storing and retaining(保持) crucial(关键的) information. But do not overdo it.1.An effective daily routine can help you through an exam period, so in the days leading up to your first exam, get into the habit of being up and ready to work by game. It can be a shock to the system after months of working to your own timetable to be mentally alert at that time if you have not prepared for it.On the day of the exam, have a good breakfast, pack two of everything you need (pens, pencils, erasers, etc.), then make your way to the examination hall in good time.2.Once in your seat, simply pause for a few seconds and collect your thoughts. Close your eyes and take in a few slow, deep breaths to help you relax. When you turn over the test paper, spend a short period reading through all the instructions and questions, paying particular attention to key verbs such as "discuss", "compare" and "evaluate".3.It is always wise to allow for 10 minutes at the end of the exam to give yourself time to go back over your answers. Once you have selected the questions you wish to tackle, begin by attempting the one you think is your strongest. It will give you more confidence when you see a well-answered question down on paper. Also remember to write clearly, and do not be afraid to express the unexpected: after all, examiners can get very bored marking stereotypical answers.4.If you do need something else to focus on to help collect your thoughts, choose a fixture in the room, such as the ceiling - or anything else that will not allow you to be distracted. Finally, once you have finished, never hang around outside afterwards to attend the discussion by other students.5. A.Do not arrive too early, though, as other people's anxiety can be contagious(有传染性), and you may suffer from undue(过度的) panic. B.Try not to be tempted to look at those around you, or at the clock. C.When you get home, read the examination paper through and look up all the words you didn't understand. D.Sleep, exercise and relaxation are all just as important. E.Map out a quick plan of points you wish to make and how much time you should spend on each question. F.Go and have a well-earned rest, then prepare for your next exam. G.Underestimate the test in your mind.

With schools close in the UK during the COVID-19 outbreak, most children must now be homeschooled. Parents have found themselves not only having to balance work and having the children at home but also having to try and teach them. How can you keep your children focused while learning? Nicola Anderson--Head of Customer Support at the UK’s leading online tutoring service MyTutor, provides new, up-to-date tips to hearten parents at this difficult time and advises how they can structure their children’s days. One is to keep to a regular timetable so it still feels like your child is taking part in the school day. Ms Anderson said: “Children of all ages do well on routine and boundaries; schools provide this in abundance and it will most children feel secure and happy if they can follow a similar timetable for their homeschooling.” Another tip is to create an environment which is favorable to learning. She said:” The environment should be free from distractions and ideally near to an open window, to provide them with appropriate levels of fresh air and natural light. Some children find it comfortable and helpful to have quiet, instrumental music playing in the background to help them to focus, but this isn’t for everyone.” Using technology to help with your child’s learning is also advised. Many schools are offering online classes and resources to help and companies are reducing or even not charging their fees during this time. It is also important to keep physical exercise as a part of your routine. Joe Wicks, otherwise known as The Body Coach, has been keeping kids healthy with daily 10 minute workouts for children on his Youtube channel. Ms Anderson said:” It can be anything from running around the garden, walking the dog, a game of football or dancing around your living room!” 1.Who is the text intended for? A.Student. B.Teachers. C.Coaches. D.Parents. 2.What does the underlined word“this" in paragraph 3 refer to? A.Homeschooling. B.Tutoring service. C.A regular timetable. D.Difficult time: 3.What may Nicola Anderson agree? A.To allow children to adjust schedule freely. B.To offer children peaceful study environment. C.To recommend high-tech to online schools. D.To combine routine with kids' mental heath. 4.What is the text mainly about? A.How to improve homeschooling efficiency. B.How to obtain online learning resources. C.How to study attentively at home. D.How to design a proper schedule.
