When I was a kid, my dad worked in a shop in the center of our town. Sometimes, I went to the shop with him and I made a little pocket money by buying things for his workmates. But I never paid attention to all the things and people around me. One day, as my dad and I were driving to the shop, I looked out of the window of the car and I saw an old man standing at the street corner. There was a rose in his hand, he was smelling the rose. For some reason, our eyes met and we looked at each other for about twenty seconds. There was nothing unusual about this man but the meet was unusual to me. Up to that moment in my life, I had given no thought to anyone on the street, in shops or anywhere else. I had no interest out of my family. But I was interested in that old man. For the first time I had interest in a stranger. What kind of life had he lived? Where had he been in his time? Once a great man encouraged us to “stop and smell the rose”. Now I want to tell these words to you. Stop what you are busy with and try to fully understand things and people in your eyesight. If you don’t care about others on your road of life, then you are missing your life itself. 1.How did the writer make a little pocket money?
2.What was the old man doing when I saw him?
3.When did the writer have interest out of his family?

We have always been interested in the moon. 2000 years ago people already knew it moved around the earth and where it would be in the sky at different times of the year. At that time, everything about the moon was learned by watching it carefully in the sky. When scientists could use telescopes(望远镜) to study the moon more closely, their ideas began to change. They could see the moon was made of rocks. Most scientists thought moon rocks would be different from those on Earth. This was because they believed the moon had once been a planet that had been caught in the earth’s gravity millions of years earlier. In 1969 moon rocks were finally brought to the earth and studied. Much to their surprise, scientists found that, except for water, the moon and the earth were made of the same things. Once again new ideas were needed for this new information. After years of study, most scientists now think that the moon was once part of Earth. They believe very early in its history, maybe 4 million years ago, something about the size of Mars hit Earth. This sent billions of rocks into space around our planet. These rocks slowly joined together and after many years became the moon. In the future, even though our ideas about the moon may change again, we will still be interested in it. 1.From the passage we know the moon was made of_____________.
2.In the passage the writer wants to tell us ___________________.
3.Before 1969 most scientists thought the moon was ______________.
4.From this passage we can learn that ___________________.

It is said that the eyes are the windows of our soul. Beautiful and bright eyes not only show a good health but also make you look very attractive. However, to have healthy eyes you have to look after them properly. Yours eyes need everyday attention. Pay more attention to your diet. First, eat food that is good for your eyes. They are fresh fruits and vegetables such as fish, eggs, and milk. Besides, a regular amount of vitamins A and B2 should also be taken. A regular and sound sleep is necessary. It relaxes the eye muscles and gives them the rest required. Sleep not only helps the body to repair its tired tissues(组织). Usually, you must sleep for at least seven to eight hours every day. Loss of sleep can give you dark circles under the eye. You must exercise your eyes every day. Blink(眨眼) yours eyes at regular periods, which makes the eyeballs watery, and gives them a good wash. We use our eyes in many unnoticeable and wrong ways. Fox example, if a small thing goes into our eye we start rubbing(揉) it, which is wrong. Rubbing can cause damage to your eyes. Don’ t read or write in poor or bright sunlight. Always use sunglasses as sunlight can cause eye tiredness. Light should not shine directly in your eyes. Too much reading, writing, watching television or working on the computer can also cause eye tiredness. Remember to always take care of God’s most beautiful gift to you. Your life will be very colorless without your eyes.
