Everyone needs friends. We all like to feel close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh, and to do things with. (1) Of course , sometimes ________need to stay by ________. We don’t always want people around. But we would feel lonely if we never had a friend.
There aren’t two people who are just the same in the world. Friends sometimes don’t get on well. It doesn’t mean that they don’t like each other any more. Most of the time they will make up(言归于好) and become friends again.
Sometimes friends move away. Then we feel very sad. We miss them very much , but we can call them and write to them. And we can make new friends. It is surprising to find out how much we like new people when we get to know them.
There is more good news for people with friends. (2)They live longer than people who don’t have good friends. Why? It could be because they are happier. Being happy helps you stay well. Or it could be just knowing that someone cares about you. If someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself.

Are you carrying too much on your back at school? I’m sure lots of children of your age will say “Yes”. Not only the students in China have this problem, but children in the United States also have heavy school bags.
Doctors are starting to worry about young students’ back and neck because their school bags are too heavy for them.
“It’s hard for me to go upstairs with my heavy bag,” said Rick Hammond, an ll-year-old student in the USA.
Rick is among students who have school bags with two straps(带子),and many other students choose rolling(有滚轮的) bags.
But even with rolling bags ,getting upstairs is still a problem for children .Doctors say students should carry no more than 10% to 15% of their own body weight (重量)。
Scott Bautch, a back doctor, said children under Grade 4 should carry no more than 10% of their weight and older children shouldn’t stay with over 15% , because their bodies are still growing.
Teachers and parents should do some things to help children. And the best answer is to have less homework!

In Britain ,people often invite friends for a meal , a party or just coffee. People who know each other very well may visit each other’s houses without an invitation(邀请),but if we invite new friends, usually an invitation is needed. When people invite someone to their homes , they often say ,“Would you like to come for dinner on Saturday ?” Answers are, “Thanks, we’d love to. What time?” or “I’m sorry, We’d love to ,but we have tickets for the concert.” However, it is not polite to say,“No, we wouldn’t.”
Sometimes, the British use expressions that sound like invitations but which are not invitations. For example. “You must come over for a drink sometime .” or “Let’s go out for a meal one of these days.” These are usually just polite ways of ending a talk . They are not real invitations because they don’t mention an exact time or day. They just show that the person is trying to be friendly and the answers are ,“Yes , that would be nice .” or “OK, yes ,thanks.”

Dear editor(编辑)
I live in a beautiful city. Many visitors come to my city. There are so many colorful peacocks(孔雀)here .The peacocks mostly live on the grass land of Dongfeng Square(广场)
They are given food freely by visitors ,They usually throw food to them ,and don’t think about at all whether the food is right or not. Some of the peacocks became ill, some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors . I’m sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds ,but don’t realize(意识到)that they may be doing them harm (伤害).The visitors should be told that what have done is very harmful to the birds , and this kind of thing must be stopped from happening Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food .For us every person, it’s our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully.
Yours,
Sun Yan
