Animals traveling from one country to another have to follow laws, just as people do. They don’t have passports, but they have to obey other rulers. Most countries have laws about animals coming into their country. The laws were made to stop the spread of illnesses that animals carry.
Traveling animals include cats and dogs going with their owners on trips. Others are rare animals going to zoos. Some are birds and fish on their way to pet shops.
Some animals can’t go into a country if their owners can’t prove that they have been vaccinated(接种疫苗)against certain illnesses. Others must be studied by animal doctors.
Sometimes animals must spend a month or more in a special place before they can enter a country. There, they are kept away from other animals before it is certain that they do not have illnesses. Only the people who can look after the animals can go near.
There are many different laws in each country. Anyone who wants to take a pet to another country should check with the government first. Laws are good for both people and animals.

Overhead bridges are found in many parts of Nanjing, especially in places where traffic is very heavy and crossing the road is very dangerous.
The purpose of these bridges is to enable passengers to cross road safely. Overhead bridges are used in very much the same way as zebra crossings. They are more efficient although less convenient because people have to climb up a long flight of steps. This is inconvenient especially to old people. When passengers using a zebra crossing, traffic is held up. This is why the government has built many overhead bridges to help passengers and to keep traffic moving at the same time.
The government of Nanjing has spent much money in building these bridges. For their own safety, passengers should be encouraged to use. They can’t risk their lives by running across the road. Dear Sir or Madam:
A year ago I bought a Relex camera second hand. It’s a SW 705 model, and it’s about five years old. Here’s my problem: The light metre was fine when I bought the camera, but now it isn’t working and my pictures are coming out too dark. I checked the batteries, and they are still good. I took the camera to some repair shops, but they said they couldn’t repair it because the model is too old and they don’t have the necessary part.
Do you have the parts for this model in stock? If so, could I send you the camera for repairs? How much would the repairs cost? I’m going to buy your new SW800 model in about six months, but I would still like to fix this old one.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours
Sarah H, McDaniel
