Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1804 in Paris. He grew up in Le Havre. When he was young he was very good artist. Monet’s parents did not want him to be an artist because they thought he would not make enough money to live. That did not stop him, though . When he was 20, he studied art at a cheap art school in Paris.

He often went on trips around France. Sometimes, his friend Camille went with him. Camille later became Monet’s wife .They had two sons, Jean and Michel .Camille died in 1878.

Later, Monet moved to Giverny, a small town near Paris. In this place he painted his best paintings .His house had a great garden with a pool and a bridge. These were his favorite things to paint. Monet died in 1926 in Giverny. Many people went to his funeral(葬礼). Different from many artists, he was famous before he died. Now his house in Giverny is a museum .Many people come to visit it.
