Changes in my hometown As time goes by, great changes have taken place in my hometown. In the past, there are many old houses. But now we have many high beautiful buildings. People used to live in the small and dirty rooms. But now they have moved into new flat, which is big and comfortable. People go to work by bus or by car instead of on foot or by bike. There is a river in my hometown. It used to be very dirty while it is clear now. Now wide road has taken the place of the narrow street. And cars on the road become more and more. My hometown has become more and more beautiful. I love my hometown. 因此我们要特别注意过去和现在的一个对比,我们可以使用一些短语,例如used to, instead of, in the past, now等。 如说到过去的时候,用了in the past和used to;提到现在时,用了now。 As time goes by, great changes have taken place in my hometown、they have moved into new flat, which is big and comfortable、People go to work by bus or by car instead of on foot or by bike等。

Cyril Dick’s house is neither a modem house nor a house of the future. It is 40 years old. There are more houses like that in the south of France. They are called “bubble houses”,and you can see why!

Cyril Dick is a designer and he loves round things. He collects old records and clocks. He also collects round furniture. And now he has a completely round house.

Everything in the “bubble house” is round. The centre of the house is one very big bubble. This is both the living room and dining room. There are round armchairs, a round table, and a big round rug (地挖)in front of a round fireplace. Around the living room are three small bubbles. One bubble is a kitchen with round shelves, another bubble is the garden room, and the third bubble is a music room. Upstairs there are two more bubbles—a bedroom and a bathroom.

The doors and windows are also round, of course. The windows are like eyes. There aren’t any curtains (窗帘)in the house, because Cyril likes to see the garden all the time.

Bubble houses are the idea of a Hungarian architect (建筑师),Antti Lovag.“A lot of modem houses are bad for us, especially tall buildings of flats,”says Lovag. ''Because round homes are more natural people feel happy in them.” Cyril agrees with this. “Some people think my house is funny,,he says, “but for me, this is the perfect home.”

1.You can find more “bubble houses” in the south of France.【    】

2.Cyril Dick is a designer and he loves _________________________________.

3.What is the third bubble around the living room?

“Tom? Are you in bed yet?” called Mrs. White. There was no answer. Mrs. White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old son’s room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.

“Oh, Tom. You’re still playing that computer game. You must stop now, because it’s half past eleven. If you don’t go to bed soon, you’ll be very tired tomorrow. ” said Mrs. White.

A kind of little cars may take the place of today’s big ones many years later. If everyone drives such cars in the future, there will be less pollution in the air. There will also be more space for parking in cities, and the streets will be less crowded.

The little cars of the future will cost less. Driving will be safer, too, since these little cars can go only 65 kilometers an hour. The cars of the future will be fine for going around a city, but they will not be useful for a long way. Little cars will go 450 kilometers before they need to stop for more gasoline (汽油).
