Maybe you are more interested in sports than in history. You probably think you will never be a top student. In fact, anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. If you can use your time well, you may improve your study without much work. Here’s how:

Plan your time carefully. When you plan your week time, you should make a list of things that you have to do. First write down the time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then decide on a good time for studying. Of course, studying shouldn’t take all of your time.

Find a good place to study. Look around the house for a good study. Keep this space, it may be a desk or just a corner of your room. No games, radio, or television! When you sit down to work, think only about the subject!

Make good use of your time in class. Listen carefully to what the teacher says. Careful listening in class means less work later.  You also need to take notes in class, because it can make it easier for you to learn well.

People often ask what the weather is like in Australia. The answer is that it changes a lot! Why? Because Australia is such a large country, weather in different parts is different in the country.

The northern parts of Australia are warm to hot all year round because it is closer to the equator (赤道). In the north, summer is also the rainy season.

The areas along the coast around Sydney are warm in winter with the lowest temperatures about 50 to 60°F. Summer there is warmer and the temperature is about 80°F.

However, if you think all parts of the country are warm all year round, you’ll be wrong. Some parts in Australia are very cold during the winter. When we say cold, we don’t mean that cold like the winter in Harbin. In some places in Tasmania and Victoria, you can see snow and temperatures there are below freezing. In fact many people do not know that there are ski resorts(滑雪胜地) in the mountains of Australia.

Australia is a good place to visit. If you want to visit Australia, you just need to think about the weather there.

1. Why does the weather in Australia change a lot?

A. Because Australia is close to the equator.

B. Because there are more seasons in Australia.

C. Because there are many mountains in Australia.

D. Because Australia is a very large country.

2. What’s the weather like in the northern parts of Australia?

A. Warm to hot. B. Cool to cold.

C. Hot to cool. D. Cold to warm.

3. What’s the temperature of Sydney in summer?

A. Below freezing. B. About 50°F.

C. About 60°F.    D. About 80°F.

4. We can learn from the passage that ______.

B. visitors can’t enjoy snow in Australia
