"Hello"-it's one of the first words we learn as babies, yet it's one of the last ones we think to use as adults. That's regrettable(令人遗憾的) , because saying hello is more than just saying hello-it is the respect of another's worth. How might the world change-how might we change-if we used this word well? To find out, l spent one month saying hello to every person I met. Here's what I've learned.

It can improve productivity. In one of the few studies ever done on this subject, Allan Allday, an assistant professor(副教授)of special education at Oklahoma State University, had middle school teachers greet their students individually (单独地) each morning. This exchange of greetings raised the kids' productivity. School went from impersonal to personal (富有人情味的) , and that led to more class participation(参与) and better grades.

Environments influence friendliness, One study found that people in the city were less likely to shake hands with a stranger than those in the countryside. And researchers say, pleasure environments generally encourage more smiles and hellos than unpleasant ones. My experience was similar. Whatever the reason, my hellos were answered far less often than the ones in the countryside. Similarly, people in vacation areas, like the Jersey Shore, were far friendlier than those hurrying to work in the centre of the city.

It's a form of health insurance(保险). It's impossible to say hello without smiling. And smiling has been shown to lower blood pressure(血压) , make people feel happier and improve happiness. It seems that saying hello creates a similar influence.

So maybe we can make the world a better place by saying hello. After a month of doing it. I feel lighter and more connected and I have a better sense of well-being.

C. The teacher who often says hello to students is very popular at school.

The Acronym, our student newspaper, reports that many students go to sleep at 1:30 a. m. Even if that's an exaggeration(夸张) , it's too close to the truth. Scientists say teens should sleep nine hours each night. But that's hard to do.

Some even pull all-nighters. In the morning they don't look good. One of my classmates did a survey on this problem. She found that most kids pull all-nighters to finish homework, but some do it for other reasons, such as playing computer games.

I usually go to bed around midnight. If I stay up past l:30 a. m., I won't get any work done. I'll fall asleep at my computer. My classes begin at 7:30 a. m. I am partly awake in my first class. By midday, I am finally wide-awake. But by 3:00 p. m. I am slowing down again. Yet I get more sleep than the Acronym's many students.

Most American high schools seem to have a similar problem with sleepy students. High school classes start at 7:30 a. m., so students have to wake up one and a half hours before that to get ready and catch the bus. It's believed that lack of sleep can damage (损坏) both grades and health.

1.Acronym is the name of_______.

A. a TV station    B. a school

C. a student      D. a newspaper

2.What's the main problem the passage mentions?

A. Many kids have too much homework to do.

B. Many teenagers don't have enough sleep.

C. Many children are crazy about playing computer games.

D. Many kids wake up too early.

3.The underlined sentence means that the report_______.

A. is quite true           B. is far from being true

C. is completely false      D. is not true
