Heres a piece of very simple but life changing advice that I first heard from Brain Tracy. Cut down on the TV at night by just one hour. Instead, use that hour to read books that could improve your life.

If youre a salesman, google for the best and most useful books on improving your sales.

This applies(适用) to all fields, not just the workrelated(与工作相关的)ones. Maybe you want to improve your health, become a more energetic person. Or maybe you want to improve your study, your relations or perhaps do some personal development.

One hour a day is not much. But if you read for one hour a day on weekdays, thats about 260 hours a year. Thats a large number of books and a lot of useful advice.

If you follow the ideas, who knows what great things and feelings could come into your life. Also, all that information and advice will start to open up your mind. You will start to see more chances in your life.

Now, you might think something like this:

I really dont have the money.

Answer: Visit your public library or search the database(数据库). Or look for books that are used in places like amazon.com.

I really don’t have the time.

Answer: Buy audiobooks(有声读物) and listen to them in the car while driving to and from work. Or copy them to your MP3-player and listen while riding your bike/bus to work or school. Recently selling audiobooks through MP3-downloads has become popular.

Years ago, I lived in a building in a large city. There was another building not far from mine. A woman lived there. I had never met her, but I could see her sit by the window each afternoon, drinking or reading.

After several months, I began to find that her window was dirty. Everything was unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself, What a lazy woman! I want to know why she doesnt wash her window. It really looks terrible.

One bright morning, I decided to clean my flat, including the window. I worked the whole morning. When I finished the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest. What a surprise! Everything in the womans flat could be seen clearly. Her window was clean!

I began to understand. I watched the womans window from my own dirty window. Thats the problem!

This is quite an important lesson for me. How often do I look at and criticize(批评) others through the dirty window of my heart?

Everybody is different from others. There is nobody in the world that is exactly like you: you are unique(唯一的)!That makes the world interesting. There are people who are taller than you. Maybe your hair is the same color as your friends, but perhaps yours is longer than hers. Another difference is that your hair may be straight and hers may be curly.

I am sure you have friends who are smarter than you. And you also have friends who are as good at sports as you. But there are also people around you who are not good at these things. However, you can also become good friends.

Are you the same as your best friend? Do you both like to finish your homework the same day you get it? Are you both neat? I think in some ways you are the same, but in many other ways you are different.
