Dear Mike, How are you? I’d be happy to tell you something about the pandasThe Panda is one of the most lovely animals in the world. It is called the Chinese "national treasure". The pandas live mainly in Sichuan, China. The panda is about 160cm long and weighs as heavy as 120 kilograms. They feed on bamboo. The adult pandas spend 12 hours a day eating 10 kilograms of bamboo. They have a baby every three years. But these babies often die of disease and can’t live long. Now people cut down many trees. The pandas do not have enough food to eat and enough places to live in. They have become an endangered animal. The pandas are such a lovely precious animal that we should pay more to protect them. First, we should protect the environment they live in. Second, we can feed them with enough bamboo. Let’s do something to protect the pandas together. The pandas are such a lovely precious animal that we should pay more to protect them.等。这些内容都比较贴合文章的需要,意思也很连贯。文章中还用了一些比较好的句型,如The panda is about 160cm long and weighs as heavy as 120 kilograms.等。 考点:提纲类作文。

The world is not hungry , but it is thirsty . It seems strange that nearly 3/4 of the earth is covered with water while we say we are short of (短缺) water. Why? Because about 97% of water on the earth is sea water which we can't drink or use for watering plants directly (直接地) . Man can only drink and use the 3% - the water that comes from rivers and lakes. And we can't even use all of that, because some of it has been polluted (污染) .

Now more water is needed. The problem is: Can we avoid (避免) a serious water shortage later on? First, we should all learn how to save water. Secondly, we should find out the ways to reuse it . Scientists have always been making studies in the field. Today, in most large cities water is used only once and then runs to the sea or rivers . But it can be used again. Even if (即使) every large city reused its water, still there would not be enough. What could people turn to next?

The sea seems to have the best answer. There is a lot of water in the sea. All that needs to be done is to get the salt out of the sea water. This is expensive, but it's already used in many parts of the world. Scientists are trying to find a cheaper way of doing it. So you see, if we can find a way out, we'll be in no danger of drying up.

Living in a foreign culture can be exciting, but it can also be confusing(令人迷惑的). A group of Americans who taught English in other countries recently discussed their experiences. They decided that miscommunications were always possible, even over something as simple as “yes” and “no”.

On her first day in Micronesia, an island in the Pacific, Lisa thought people weren’t paying any attention to her. The day was hot. She went into a store and asked, “Do you have cold drinks? The woman there didn’t say anything. Lisa repeated the question. Still the woman said nothing. She later learned that the woman had answered her: She had raised her eyebrows(眉头), which in Micronesia means “yes”.

Jan remembered an experience she had in Bulgaria, a country in Europe. She went to a restaurant that was known for its cabbage. She asked the waiter, “Do you have cabbage today?” He nodded his head. Jan waited, but the cabbage never came. In that country, a nod means “no”.

Tom had a similar problem when he arrived in India. After explaining something in class, he asked his students if they understood. They answered with many different nods and shakes of the head. He thought some people had not understood, so he explained again. When he asked again, they did the same thing. He soon found out that his students did understand. In India, people nod and shake their heads in different ways depending on where they come from. You have to know where a person is from to understand whether they mean “yes” or “no”.
