Dear Sir I’m writing to recommend Wang Hui to be the Excellent Teen with both ability and Moral Integrity. Wang Hui is crazy about drawing and very strict with himself. He is always searching for something better to improve himself. He is good at using colours to express himself. He likes red best, because red can help him make decisions quickly. Although he is busy with his study, he never gives up his hobby. He has won several drawing competitions since last year. He often helps us. For example, he often spends time helping with the classroom blackboard newspaper. He even does something to make his community more beautiful at weekends. I think Wang Hui is the most suitable person to achieve the title . I hope that you agree with me. 文中使用了be crazy about,be strict with,be good at等较高级的短语和词汇,而且还应用了although引导的让步状语从句,使用了spend doing sth等为文章增色不少。 考点:提纲作文。

Millvina Dean, Titanic’s last survivor, died on May 31, 2009 in Southampton. She was 97 and had been in poor health for several weeks.

The youngest of the ship’s 705 survivors, Ms. Dean was only 9 weeks old when the Titanic hit an iceberg (冰山) on the night of April 14, 1912. She survived with her mother and her 2-year-old brother. Mr. Dean, 29, was taking his family to a new life in Kansas City. He planned to run a tobacconist’s (烟草商) shop there. He was among more than 1,500 passengers and crew members who died in the sinking.

Ms. Dean never married and spent her working life in Southampton. For many years after the sinking, she never spoke of it to people she met or worked with, partly because she remembered nothing about it and partly because she did not want to be seen as drawing attention to herself.

But that changed after Sep. 1, 1985 when the wreck (残骸) of the Titanic was discovered. That set off a wave of interest in the ship, especially after the movie Titanic. “They found the wreck and after they found the wreck, they found me,” she said.

In the last 20 years of her life, she went to gatherings in the USA, Canada and a number of European countries to take part in events related to the sinking. She said she had learned from her mother about what happened during the sinking.

Ms. Dean had never seen Titanic. She explained she was unwilling to be reminded of what had happened to her father.

When we think of chocolate, many of us think of candy bars and sweet. But this is not how chocolate comes to us. In fact, it comes from the cacao tree that is found in the tropical(热带的) forests of Central and South America, because cacao beans need to grow in a hot and humid climate (湿热的气候) . The Mayas knew that they could get food and drink from the tree. The Aztecs often took the cacao beans and broke them into pieces in hot water, making a drink that was delicious and energy-producing for the body.

When Columbus and Cortez came to America, they shipped cacao beans back to Spain. However, at first few people accepted the drink because the taste was strange. When Columbus gave the information back to the Spanish Queen and King that one cup of chocolate from the cacao beans could provide a whole day’s energy for a man without the need for other food, attitudes(态度) quickly changed.

The need and the cost for chocolate produced by the cacao beans rose sharply. Soon all Europeans had fallen in love with chocolate. But chocolate was so expensive at that time that only the riches could afford this confection (甜食). At first, too much chocolate made people sick because more than half of the cacao bean is formed from fat, and few people knew how to remove the too much fat content(脂肪含量). Perhaps that is how we arrived at the expression, “Too much of a good thing can be bad for you.”
