A recent report by the American Heart Association — a big organization that encourages adults and kids to stay healthy —found that today’s kids are 15 percent less healthy than kids from years ago. What does that mean? Let’s say you’re a 12-year-old girl. You’re not a sports superstar, but you’re pretty good — kind of average (平均的). Let’s say your mom was the same kind of kid when she was your age. Now imagine we could set up a mile race between you and your mom from 30 years ago. Wouldn’t that be cool? The scientists who did the study think there are some reasons for the big fall in fitness. First, too many of today’s kids are overweight (超重的). That makes it harder for them to run fast. Second, kids today don’t get enough exercise. Doctors say kids should get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. That’s why it is important for schools to have P.E. classes.
So what should kids do? If you don’t want your mom and dad to think they are faster than you, don’t spend a lot of time playing video games, watching TV or movies. Instead, do things that will get you up and to move.

Kenya, a country in East Africa, is known for its amazing wildlife, especially lions. However, over the last decade (十年) the number of lions has decreased from 10,000 to over 2,000. Most of them were killed by the local people because they had to do so to protect their cows.
As well as the cows, wild animals should be protected. Now because of a creative idea thought of by a young boy, this problem can be solved peacefully.
At the age of 11, Richard Turere was put in charge of the family’s cows. The local people think this job is an honor since cows are considered the family fortune.
The only problem was that their land was next to Nairobi National Park, home to the largest number of lions in the world. As a result, the cows were often eaten by the hungry lions.
Richard noticed that when he walked around the cows with a flashlight, the lions kept away because they were afraid of humans and the flashlight. So he decided to create an automated (自动的) flashlight. Richard tied some bulbs (灯泡) from broken flashlights around the cow stockade (栅栏). Under an automated lighting system, the bulbs flashed one by one, just like someone walking around with a flashlight that could keep lions away.
Since Richard’s invention was put to use, none of Richard’s cows has lost. As it only costs $10 to make this simple device, it can be widely used in Kenya in the future.

The universal two-child policy(政策) will possibly add about 2.5 million newborn babies every year, said a professor of Peking University. According to a statement made on Thursday by the Chinese government, about 90 million couples will be able to have a second child.
The universal two-child policy will tell us the country's aging trend and if no action is taken to change this situation, there will be labor shortages in the future because of the low birth rate in recent years. Low birth rate means less adults of working age, which will cause some danger for our country’s development and the future of us.
However, before the new policy was made, the one-child policy influenced Chinese people for a long time. It was put forward in the 1970s aimed at slowing the fast population growth caused by a baby boom (爆炸)after the country recovered from three years of natural disasters in the early 1960s. Besides, with the only child becoming the center of a family, the child may be too spoiled, which can be seen in many news reported nowadays. Still, if the only child dies before his parents, it's hard to imagine how the parents will spend the rest of their lives, especially when they are old.
In late 2013, the government first relaxed the family planning policy, allowing couples to have a second child in situations where one spouse was an only child. However, as of June, only 1.5 million of the 11 million couples had decided to have a second child.
"This policy change could have a good influence on our society, and it will help to develop the economy in our country, but any such influence can only appear over the long term," Atsi Sheth, an director of Moody’s, said in a report on Friday.
