When you watch TV and play video games y...

When you watch TV and play video games you make global(全球的)warming worse! It may seem hard to believe, but when electricity is made, so are greenhouse gases(温室气体). This means that every time you use electricity you help make global warming worse!

Cars are also making global warming worse. They burn fossil fuels(化石燃料)in their engines, and send lots of greenhouse gases into the air.2-1-c-n-j-y

Global warming may be a big problem, but we can all help stop it. People can try to drive their cars less. Or even get ones that run on sunlight! You can also help. Let’s try one of these top ideas:

(1)Try to use less electricity. Turn off lights, your television, and your computer when you’ve stopped using them. To make electricity, fossil fuels are burned in big factories. But burning fossil fuels also makes greenhouse gases. You should also try to watch less TV.

(2)Plant trees. Not only is it a fun thing to do, but it is also a great way to lower the number of greenhouse gases in the air. Trees take carbon dioxide out of the air when they grow.

(3)Don’t throw away your rubbish, try to recycle it. If rubbish is not recycled, it is put in the ground. There it rots(腐烂)and makes a greenhouse gas called methane(甲烷).So try to recycle cans, bottles, plastic bags and newspapers. It’ll make you feel great! And it’ll help the Earth.

1. If we ___________, we may make global warming worse.

A. use less electricity        B. drive a car on sunlight

C. plant trees                 D. throw away rubbish

2. We may use more electricity by______.

A. turning off lights         B. shutting down computers

C. turning up CD players      D. turning off TV

3. ______ will make global warming worse.

A. Methane        B. Cans

C. Newspapers      D. Bottles

4.Which is the following is NOT TRUE according to the passage?

A. Driving cars on sunlight helps to stop global warming.

B. When cars burn fossil fuels, they produce greenhouse gases.

C. When trees grow, they send carbon dioxide into the air.

D. By planting more trees, we can lower the number of greenhouse gases in the air.

Turn off lights, your television, and your computer when you’ve stopped using them. 通过阅读可知methane(甲烷). Trees take carbon dioxide out of the air when they grow.

One little miracle (奇迹) has been happening to me recently, and it gives me a special joy.

A few months ago, I was telling my daughter, Sally, some stories about my mother. My daughter was so young when my mother died that she doesn’t remember her well. I told her all I could remember, like how wonderful my mother was and how much she meant to me.

One day, Sally was sad because her grandmother was in heaven (天堂) and she couldn’t see her. I explained that though her grandmother was dead,  now she was still watching over us and could send us something to let us know she was there. She could be anywhere, even riding invisibly (看不见地) on the back of a butterfly (蝴蝶). Just after I said this, a butterfly flew down right by us, and we laughed happily.

Now many people would say it was just luck that the butterfly flew down at that time. A funny thing, however, has happened since then. Every time I go out in any type of weather I see butterflies. Very often they fly right by my face to get my attention. I always say hi to Mom, send her my love, and thank God for little miracles(奇迹).

Everyone is always looking for some big miracles to come out and save them when they are in trouble, but they don’t notice the little miracles that happen every day right in front of their eyes. I know what they really are, however. For me little miracles are the best kind. So many little miracles happen around me all the time that I know they are not just luck.

1. Why was Sally sad one day ?

A. Because her mother told her a sad story.

B. Because she argued with her grandmother.

Nowadays, it is very important for us to live a low-carbon life.

The first thing we can do is riding bikes instead of driving cars.

Bikes are much cheaper than cars and everyone can afford it.

It’s easier to find the parking places for bikes.

The petrol is not necessary for bikes,so bikes won’t produce the dirty air to make pollution (污染)to our environment.

We can ride bikes to keep fit.

Let’s ride bikes instead of driving cars to protect the environment!

(2)其次,众所周知(as we know),在上学、上班时段交通特别繁忙(a heavy traffic)。

要求:(1)短文必须包括所有内容要点,可适当发挥,以便行文连贯;
