A man with a green bag walked into a doctor’s room.“Please sit down. Open your mouth and put out your tongue,” the doctor said.“OK. You can close your mouth now. It is clear something is wrong with you. You have to do more exercise.” “But, doctor,”the man said, ”I don’t think…” “Don’t tell me what you think,” the doctor said. “I am the doctor, not you. I know what you need. I see hundreds of people like you. None of them get any exercise. They sit in offices all day and in front of the TV in the evening. What you need is to walk quickly for at least 30 minutes a day.” “Doctor, you don’t understand,”the man said. “I…” “I don’t want to hear any excuses,” the doctor said.“You must find it time for exercise. If you don’t, you will get fat and have health problems when you are older.” “But I walk every day”the man said.“Oh, yes, and I know what kind of walking that is. You walk a few meters to the train station from your house, a few more meters from the station to your office, and a few more meters from your office to a restaurant for lunch and back.” “Please listen to me,” the man shouted, getting angry, “I am a mailman,” the man continued. “I walk for seven hours every day and I come to send letters.” For a moment, the doctor said nothing, and then he said slowly,“Put out your tongue again, will you?”

Before you go to another country, it’s great helpful if you know the language and some of the customs of that country.
When people meet each other for the first time in Britain, they say “Hello” or “Nice to meet you”and shake hands. Usually they don’t shake hands when they just meet or say goodbye. But they shake hands after they haven’t met for a long time or when they’ll be away from each other for a long time.
Last year a group of German students went to English for a holiday. Their teacher told them the English people hardly shake hands. So when they met their English friends at the station, they kept their hands behind their back. The English students had learned that the Germans shake hands as often as possible, so they put their hands in front and got ready to shake hands with them. It made both of them laugh.

Dear Mr Heppell,
I am Sabrina Akhtar studying in a high school and I’ve noticed that forests are disappearing.
You know, forests are disappearing around the world each year. This is because of many different reasons including farming, tourism pollution, etc. If we stop doing these things, there will be a good future for people of tomorrow.
Now I’m writing to ask you to help stop forests from disappearing. You can help by getting shops to stop selling paper made from trees and changing to tree-free paper (paper not made from trees). This will help forests so much. There are many things we can do to help forests. If you would like to know more, please visit http://www. Rain forest web. Org/.. By changing the little things, we can make a big difference.
If you would like to contact me, please see the above address or e-mail at shazadinol@ hotmail.co.uk. Thank you for taking your time in reading this letter.
