Kataria is the founder of the worldwide laughter movement. The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive activity for world peace and is to build up a global sense of brotherhood and friendship through laughter. The first “World Laughter Day” gathering（集会）took place in Mumbai， India， on 11th January 1998. 12， 000 members from India and international Laughter Clubs attended it. Now there are about 5， 000 Laughter Clubs worldwide on all 5 continents.
“HAPPY-DEMIC” was the first World Laughter Day gathering outside India. It took place on 9th January 2000 in Copenhagen， Denmark. “World Laughter Day” is now organized on the first Sunday of May every year. Hundreds of people gather worldwide on that day to laugh together.
Today， the world has never faced so much unrest（动荡）before. People are at war within themselves. Laughter is a universal language， which has the ability to unite humanity without religion（宗教）. Laughter can build a common connection between various religions and create a new world order. So we believe that laughter and only laughter can unite the world， building up a global sense of brotherhood and friendship.

Some people think that they have an answer to the problems of automobile crowding and pollution in large cities. Their answer is the bicycle， or bike.
In a great many cities， hundreds of people ride bicycles to work every day. In New York City， some bike riders have even formed a group called “Bike for a Better City”. They claim that if more people rode bicycles to work there would be fewer automobiles in the downtown section of the city and therefore less dirty air from car engines.
For several years this group has been trying to get city government to help bicycle riders. For example， they want the city to paint special lanes—for bicycles only—on some of the main streets， because when bicycle riders must use the same lanes as cars， there may be accidents. “Bike for a Better City” feels that if there were special lanes， more people would use bikes.
But no bicycle lanes have been painted yet. Not everyone thinks it is a good idea. Taxi drivers don’t like the idea—they say it will slow traffic. Some store owners on the main streets don’t like the idea—they say that if there is less traffic， they will have less business. And most people live too far from downtown to travel by bike.
The city government has not yet decided what to do. It wants to keep everyone happy. The Beijing Subway was opened in 1969 and is the oldest subway system in China. It has added some modern technologies. All stations now have touch-screen maps. In 50 years of traveling， Colin McCorpuodale has visited every country in the world except three. And everywhere he goes， he sends himself a postcard.
