I left home for New Zealand to start my new life on my 15th birthday. My father and mother took me to Hong Kong, where we had to say goodbye. This was the first time I had traveled so far by myself. I wiped(擦) away my tears and also realized I would have to do everything by myself from then on.
After I arrived there, I really found life and study were quite different. There were only 20 students in each class. Students were very active and teachers were not so serious. We could sit with anyone we like. The school had an easy manner, with few rules. In a term, only maths, science, social studies and English were the subjects we had to take. The others were free to choose. So I chose music, art and computer.
In my free time, I joined clubs to take an active part in activities. And I always went to the library after class, where I found a lot of books to help with my studies. In New Zealand, students depended on the library to get knowledge instead of waiting for what teachers asked them to do. Also, I played different kinds of sports such as soccer and tennis. Because I could swim well, I even found a part-time job as a life saver in my school swimming center. As time went by, I found life there was really busy but happy.
Two months has passed, and a week of exams are coming. Now I have to put down all those things and work hard for the exams. Hope I can get the best grades in my class and make my parents proud of me.

It was Sunday. Henry did some shopping and then went to the car park. He was about to start the car when a robber(强盗) stood up from the back seat. He held a knife to Henry's head. “Give me your money and drive me to North Street.” he shouted.
“All right,” Henry answered. Then he started the car and drove away. Being 72 years old, he knew he could not fight the young robber. He knew he needed help. Where were the police? As he drove towards each crossing, he looked up and down the side streets, and hoped that he could meet a police car. But he could see none. “Just my luck,” he thought. “If I was driving too fast, there would be a police car on every corner.”

______________________“Thomas Edison was an great inventor in the US. When he was seven, her mother caught a serious illness so she had to receive an operation(手术)in time. However, the room was too dark. So Edison brought a mirror and an oil lamp to light the room. How smart he was.” This story comes from the Chinese textbook for Grade-two students in the primary school. But recently, many people believe it was not true because the first operation about that illness in the world took place in 1886. Edison reached seven years old in 1854. Some people wonder why the story appears in the textbook. Maybe that’s because the editor(编辑) cares too much about the educational meaning without checking whether it was true or not.
