It's time for school! But on May 14th,Duncanville High School in Texas,US,asks 170
students to go back home.
Why? Because they are wearing the wrong clothes to sch001.
Schools in the US don't always ask students to wear uniforms. But they have dress codes
(着装要求).For example,Duncanville High School tells Students to wear belts, shirts
without logos(标识).
Schools' most—hated clothes are different. In 2011,people in Florida stop students from
wearing trousers that show body parts. Now,some schools don't allow(允许)leggings(紧身裤).Other schools ask students to wear a shirt or a skirt over leggings.
Some students complain(抱怨)that schools are going too far.But schools say dress codes help protect(保护)students' safety(安全)and make sure they grow up with good taste.
“We want to teach them that they must do this not only here in sch001.but also outside school,”said Andre Smith.

As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guanxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there. However, I felt sad when I arrived there. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and another one for Grades 4, 5 and 6. There was a third one for me.
The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in Shanghai. The next day, I gave them a test to find out their level. Though the test was very easy, over half of the students failed it, yet they all wanted to learn new things. I knew they needed me.
I was busy preparing lessons, reading test papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hardworking children, and I could see that they were making progress with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their lives better, and we are now good friends.
I have worked in Longzhou for a year now. I’m very happy, and the experience has been very useful for me. I love the small village school and the children. In fact, I would like to continue working here.

The koala
Appearance:
Size: 70—90cm Weight: 5—14kg
The koala with thick hair looks cute but it has very sharp
teeth and claws (爪子).
The male koala is larger than the female one.
Food: The koala eats eucalyptus leaves (桉树叶). Each koala
eats about 500 grams of leaves per day.
Habit: The koala sleeps for up to 16—18 hours. It prefers to move around in the evening.
Baby fact: A healthy female koala can have one child each year. A baby koala is very small when it is born—only a quarter of an inch. It has no hair and it can’t see either. It lives in its mother’s pouch (育儿袋) for half a year. During this time, it only drinks its mother’s milk.
Danger: The number of koalas in Australia is getting smaller every year, mainly because of people. People cut down a lot of trees, so many koalas have no places to live in and they don’t have enough leaves to eat. There are fewer than 100,000 koalas in the world. Some scientists say if people don’t protect them, we won’t have any koalas within 30 years.
