Does too much homework made them 3.(tire)? The answer is NO. Teens actually spend less time on homework now than they did in the 1990s. A child expert says that today's teens are different because they are the 4.(one) generation to grow up with social media and smart phones.

What kind of effects does this have on how 5.(quick) kids grow up? For one thing, kids spend more time playing with technology and less time on other things. This may explain6. fewer kids are interested in "adult" activities.

In high school, getting one's first driving license used to be regarded as something "cool" 7. could impress one's friends. But today, kids avoid 8.(share) this with others. They would rather stay at home and play on their phones.

It is hard 9.(say) growing up more slowly is good or bad. But kids can have more time for social and emotional 10.(develop). It is necessary for success later in life.

1.working 2.But 3.tired 4.first 5.quickly 6.why 7.that 8.sharing 9.to say 10.development 【解析】 文章主要讲述了与过去急于拿到驾驶证或者做兼职工作等来证明自己长大了相比较,美国青少年近来成长缓慢,这主要是由于他们花在社交媒体和手机上的时间太多,而无暇顾及其他的事情。 1. Getting their first license or 1 (work) at their first part-time jobs were exciting events in most teens' lives.和fewer American teens are doing "adult" activities like driving and working now. It’s+形容词+to do sth做某事是怎样的,不定式作形式主语;故填to say。 10.句意:但是孩子们有更多时间来用于社会和情感的发展。 根据social 社会的,emotional情感的,形容词修饰名词;故填development。

If you’re riding in the car on the way home from school or soccer practice, does the sight of fast food restaurant signs make you hungry for a cheeseburger, some French fries or a piece of pizza?

Think about some of the signs for the most popular fast food restaurants. What do the signs for McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Dairy Queen and Pizza Hut have in common? They all make prominent (突出的) use of two colors: red and yellow.

Could it be that these colors — red and yellow — make you hungry and want to stop for fast food? Although it might sound crazy, that's exactly what some scientists believe. The idea even has a name: the ketchup (番茄酱) and mustard (芥末) theory.

Scientists also point out that studies show that color gets communicated to the brain faster than any other type of communication. For example, experts believe that the color red inspires feelings of warmth, comfort and love. Similarly, yellow draws feelings of happiness, excitement and cheer.

Researchers believe that these colors, especially when used on fast food restaurant signs, create the perfect feelings to make us feel hungry and want to stop to eat.

Other scientists, however, disagree with the ketchup and mustard theory and point out that there isn't enough scientific data (数据) to support the theory. They think that feelings of happiness and excitement connected with the colors red and yellow aren't necessarily equal to hunger.

While the science of colors and their exact influence on us may be uncertain, it’s clear that fast food restaurants believe that in some way, it is good for them to include red and yellow on their signs. Do these colors make us hungry? Maybe ... or perhaps it’s our own happy memories of delicious cheeseburgers, salty French fries and ice- cold sodas that keep us coming back for more!

1.Why does the writer ask the question in Paragraph 1?

A.To know when people will feel hungry.

B.To ask people to take part in the research.

C.To get people into the topic of the passage.

D.To find what fast food restaurant sign is the most popular.

2.What common point do most fast food restaurants share?

A.They provide similar foods. B.Their foods are in red and yellow.

C.Their signs include red and yellow. D.Their foods are the favorite of people.

3.According to Paragraph 4, some scientists believe that ________.

A.people cannot refuse to enjoy fast food B.colors can make communication easier

C.people use colors to express their feelings D.colors have influences on our feelings

4.What can we learn from the last paragraph?

A.Colors are important to fast food restaurants. B.It’s uncertain whether colors make us hungry.

C.We need to study the science of colors. D.Delicious food can leave us good memories.

On the Labor Day, I went back to my hometown in Hunan Province with my parents. We visited our relatives, enjoyed natural view and tasted many kinds of delicious food that can only be found in the countryside. However, the most exciting thing was catching fish.

That was a wonderful afternoon. The weather was pleasant and the wind was soft.

After having a big meal, my uncle and my two cousins decided to catch some fish for lunch the next day. They invited me to join them and see how they catch fish to earn money. They put on special coats and boots, and then headed to the pond. The bottom of the pond was filled with thick mud, so I thought it was difficult to catch fish there.

My uncle and my cousins jumped into the pond. The pond had a special drainage(排水) system so they could lead some water into another place, which made it easier to catch fish. After a while, the water level dropped and big fishes appeared. I was so amazed to see that the fishes here were two times bigger than regular ones. Out of breath, the fishes couldn't do anything but kept jumping. A great amount of mud splashed out(溅出) from the pond onto our clothes. My uncle and my cousins caught some fish skillfully.
