Everyone is talking about how much money they had in their red envelopes(红包). But a more important question than “How much do you get?” is “What are you going to do with it?”
Well, one thing you could do is to put it in the bank—it’s easier than you think.
In fact, some students in Hubei began to use the Xiaogui Dangjia bank card. It’s a bank card for kids, and it’s given by China Minsheng Bank’s Wuhan branch.
“Now all my money has a place to put,” said Song Wei, an undergraduate(大学生) in Wuhan. “I can’t wait to use the card to pay my own school fees. ”
Wang Hong, a manager(经理) of Minsheng Bank, said they talked with lots of students and found they didn’t think much about money. “They just spend all their money on whatever they want and then ask their parents for more,” Wang said. And this can change a little if they have such a card.
Also some parents worry that the kids themselves don’t know how to use the money well. They think if parents buy everything children ask for, maybe children will think that money comes too easily, and children won’t work hard to get money in the future.
Experts say that understanding personal finance(财政) is important, and people should learn it early. “If you start saving early, you’ll have the habit when you are older. It’s better to teach students how to go fishing than just give them fish.”
