Dear Seth,
You’re only three years old, and at this point you are not able to understand this letter today. 1.
Life can be unkind. There will be people in your life who won’t be very nice. They’ll laugh at you because you’re different, or for no good reason. You will also face heartbreak and might be hurt by those you love.2.
Be open to life anyway. You’ll find cruelty and pain in your journey through life, but don’t let that stop you from new things. Don’t retreat from life, and don’t hide or wall yourself off. Be open to new things, new experiences, and new people. You will fall many times, but if you allow that to keep you from trying, you will miss many chances.3.
You will meet many people who will try to do better than you, in school, in college, and at work. They’ll try to have nicer cars, bigger houses, nicer clothes and cooler gadgets.4.
Here’s a secret: life isn’t a competition. It’s a journey. If you always try your best to beat others, you’re wasting your life. Learn to enjoy your life instead.5.
Finally, know that I love you and always will. You are starting a really wonderful journey, and I will be there for you.
Love,
Dad

When we are born, we are given names that stay with us for our whole lives. Some names include good wishes and hopes from parents, while others may be special and easy to remember. But do you know how the new coronavirus got its name?
According to International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, an organization responsible for naming new viruses, the task of naming a virus is no less important than naming a person.
Over the past decade, some improper names have caused problems. In 2009, the “swine flu” was widely used before the official name, H1N1 virus, was announced. This led Egypt to kill all of its pigs even though it appeared and spread among people who hadn’t been near pigs. In 2015, MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) caused some actions against the nations and people of this area.
So in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the names of viruses should be easy to remember but avoid being named after geographic locations, people, species or classes of animals and foods.
Following these rules, the new coronavirus we are suffering from was named “COVID-19” by the WHO on Feb. 11. In this name, “CO” means “corona”, “VI” stands for “virus” and “D” means “disease”.
Next time you read about a virus you don’t know, you may get some clues about it from its name.

Once there lived a farmer who owned a land along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Even after letting out several advertisements to look for someone to take care of his farm, no one seemed to sign up for it.
People were reluctant to work along the Atlantic, it had frequent storms. These storms were cruel, violent and destroyed every building and crop field they touched.
After months of advertising and request refusals, a man came to the farmer for the job. “Do you have any skills or experience to work on a farm like this?” the farmer asked him.
“Well, I may not have enough experience, but I can sleep when the wind blows,” replied the man.
Although the farmer wasn’t sure if the man was the right person for the job, the farmer was too desperate to have someone to help him on the field that he hired him anyway. The man worked well around the farm. The farmer was pretty satisfied with the man.
Then one stormy night, the strong wind blew hard and woke the farmer. The farmer immediately got off his bed and headed towards the quarter where his helper was sleeping.
“Wake up!” the farmer shouted, throwing the soundly asleep man off the bed, “A storm is coming. Tie things down before they get blown away.”
The man sat up and said, “No, sir. I told you I can sleep when the wind blows.”
The farmer turned red with fury after listening to this. He controlled all his will to fire the man because at the moment it was more important to secure his fields and barn than to argue with his helper. The farmer ran out to tie the things up and was surprised by what he saw.
All of the chickens were in the cages, the cows were in the barn, the doors were closed, and the shutters were firmly secured. Everything was tied down so that nothing could be blown away.
The farmer smiled. Now, he understood what the man meant by when he said he could sleep when the wind blew. He went off to bed and slept soundly through the storm.
