About 800 years ago, a Chinese man named Wang Hu made the world’s first rocket, but unluckily he lost his life with it. It was not until April 24, 1970 that China sent its first satellite Dongfanghong-1 to space successfully.
To celebrate the first big success for the country’s space development, April 24 is now China’s Space Day, which started this year. While celebrating, China also announced(宣布)new plans to make a space station and go to Mars and further space.
A space station is like a home for astronauts in space, Astronauts live and work on a space station and spaceships can even park there. China plans to finish building its space station in 2022.
According to China’s top space scientist, Zhou, Jianping, by that time, becoming an astronaut will be a normal job. Astronauts are needed more than ever before. They need to be able to finish more tasks. So far, China has been choosing astronauts mainly from pilots. In the future astronauts will also be picked from engineers, doctors and space technology experts.
Another plan is about Mars. In order to search Mars, China will send a probe(探测器)first to Mars around 2020. It will land there and even bring back things from the Mars.
It’s such a big plan! Only by doing this can China say it has truly started the exploration of deep space. And the exploration will help us understand how the universe changes.
