How can you learn about the history of the world in just one day? Maybe you can try by visiting an exhibition (展览1.“A history of the World in 100 Objects”.

It not only tells the story of the UK, but also2.other cultures to the world. “A History of the World in 100 Objects” is one of 3.great exhibitions. Now the British Museum comes to China for the very first time. The exhibition, which opened in the National Museum of China in Beijing on March 2, will last  4.May 31.

The British Museum says it owns more than 8 million historical objects. The objects of this exhibition are5.chosen. They are from different times and6.around the world. For example, there is a seal that people in the Indus Valley (印度河流域) used, and a bronze bell from the time of Confucius in ancient China, which shows how the Chinese people in ancient times “saw in music the harmony (和谐) they wanted to have in society,” according to the BBC.

7., it is not only ancient objects that made the list. Some  8.objects show the history of the world too. For example, a solar-powered lamp on show is a result of scientific development.

1.called/named 2.presents / introduces / takes / brings / shows 3.its 4.until/ till 5.carefully 6.places / areas / countries 7.However 8.modern 【解析】 你怎么能在一天内了解世界历史呢? 根据下文中的句子““A History of the World in 100 Objects” is one of ____3____great exhibitions.”可知“A History of the World in 100 Objects”是一个展览。 故答案为called/named。 2. 故答案为presents / introduces / takes / brings / shows。 3. 根据句中的时间“on March 2”和“May 31.” 故答案为until/till。 5. 结合前文以及空格后的句子“it is not only ancient objects that made the list.”

We live in Bedford, a town near London. My father is a hard-working pilot, so he doesn’t have much time to look after us.

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night, when she made breakfast food after a long, hard day at hospital.

On that evening, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and terribly burnt biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed. Yet all my dad did were reaching for a biscuit,  smiling at my mom and asking my brother and me how we had been doing at school. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him put butter on that biscuit and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I will never forget what he said, “Honey, I love burnt biscuits.”

Later that night, I went to kiss my dad goodnight and I asked him if he really liked burnt biscuits. He wrapped me in his arms and said, “Your mom is really tired after a hard day’s work. Besides, a little burnt biscuit could never hurt anyone. We have been married for 17 years. She always cooks for me. Don’t put the key to your happiness in someone else’s hand, but put it in your own.”
