China Eastern Airline and other domestic...

China Eastern Airline and other domestic airlines have begun to allow mobile phone use on their flights(航班) or announced plans to cancel the ban(禁令).

On Thursday, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines began to allow passengers to use portable electronic devices (PED), such as smartphones and tablets, but phones still have to be changed to airplane mode(飞行模式). China Southern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines announced Thursday they would allow mobile phone use on all their flights soon.

The permission comes after the Civil Aviation Administration of China(中国民用航空局) asked that the ban be canceled earlier this week. According to the guideline before, staffs in the planes needed to ask passengers to turn off any devices that could interrupt the flight, even airplane mode was not permitted.

Inflight wifi is available on 74 of China Eastern Airlines' aircrafts, covering all international routes and 166 domestic routes. Hainan Airlines has enabled inflight wifi on 17 of its airplanes.

"Before, I just slept aboard the airplane, sometimes read magazines in front of me and then had nothing to do. But now, I can use my social network accounts like Weibo or Wechat," said a passenger named Zuo, who took a flight with wifi from Shanghai Thursday.

Before 2018, mobile phone use on aircraft was banned over safety concerns. The ban is a common international practice, but with technological development and a higher demand from passengers, the ban has been canceled by some airlines.

Other Chinese airlines are also considering allowing mobile phone use. A number of airlines from other countries already provide inflight wifi service, an important factor for passengers choosing flights of different airlines.

The ban is a common international practice, but with technological development and a higher demand from passengers, the ban has been canceled by some airlines.” 2018年之前,出于安全考虑,禁止在飞机上使用手机。禁令是国际通行的做法,但随着技术的发展和旅客的更高要求,一些航空公司已经取消了禁令。可知,这篇短文主要是讲述了中国的航空公司开始允许乘客使用便携式电子设备。故选A。

What is the most stressful thing in school? It is probably exams. Exams can put us under a lot of pressure. But some students do better under pressure. while others do not. So, why do some students perform better under stress?

It all comes down to dopamine(多巴胺). Dopamine is a chemical in our body that sends signals(信号) in the brain. It has many important roles: affecting memory, attention and how we learn. Our brains work best when there is a balance of dopamine--not too much or too little.

Our brains control dopamine in two ways. It either takes out dopamine quickly, or gradually. Exam success can be linked to how fast dopamine goes back to an even balance, according to new research from the University of Missouri, reported Yahoo.

What happens when we take an exam? If you become stressed, your brain will start to overload on dopamine. It is like a cup overflowing with water. The quicker you are able to go back to an even balance of dopamine, the quicker you can concentrate, helping you perform better on a test.

Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to an even balance of dopamine scored 8 percent lower. That’s the difference between a good mark and a bad mark.

But don’t fear, there is good news for every student. The study also found that the more practice you get, the less stress you’ll have.

So, it turns out that practice really does make perfect.
