例文: Dear Peter, How’s everything going with yon? I know you are worried about your biology and geography tests of the High School Entrance Exams. As your friend, I’d like to offer you some suggestions. First of all, you are supposed to relax yourself by taking exercise, listening to music and going for a walk. Meanwhile, you should have a healthy diet. Also, junk food will do harm to you, so you'd better eat less. Instead, eat more fruit and vegetables. At the same time, you must have plenty of sleep in order that you won’t feel sleepy in class. Therefore, your brain will be active as well. Above all, you’d better learn how to communicate. You can ask your parents and teachers for help when you are in trouble and you can also share your happiness and sadness with your friends. Finally, I sincerely hope you can achieve success and keep healthy from the bottom of my heart. Best wishes! Yours, LiHua 【解析】 1.题干解读:该题目属于书信写作。在写作时应紧接开头继续写作,根据内容提示给一些减压的建议。

May is the best month in my mind. It is a beautiful month full of sunlight and colorful flowers. It is also the month when we show appreciation (感激) for our mothers on Mother’s Day.

In my family, every year’s celebration is different. Two years ago, I made breakfast for my mom and she still remembers all the dishes I cooked. Last year, I bought her a scarf with the money that I made from selling some of my old books. She still uses it all the time.

My mom is my hero and she sacrificed (牺牲) her career in order to take care of me. I wanted to do something special on this “quarantined” (隔离) Mother’s Day. 在四月份,我开始在网上寻找关于礼物的不同的想法。I decided to make a card by hand. The first one I made was sort of ordinary. 1 decided to make a variety of cards -. each with different messages.

A couple of nights later, I came up with the idea of making an origami (折纸) box out of all the cards. On the night before Mother’s Day, I asked my mom to go to bed early so that I could put the present next to her bed. 当她醒来,她被我的礼物感动了。She spent a lot of time appreciating every tiny detail (细节) of the box.

I am very lucky to have my mom by my side. I am glad that there is a special day in May for me to honor my mom. At the same time, I can show her my appreciation and love.

It was a room full of boys. A girl, about 10 years old, was sitting in the center. She was the only girl among the boys. As a tradition in her village, other girls had to stay home.

The girl, Shameem Akhtar, was born in a small village in Pakistan (巴勒斯坦). In her village, all parents keep girls inside their homes. Luckily, Shameem’s uncle, a university graduate, wanted to give her a chance to see the world. He offered Shameem a chance to attend school. However, Shameem had to fight to complete her schooling. To be allowed to enter college, she stopped eating for 3 days, which is called a hunger strike (抗议).

By setting an example, her experience could encourage more people to understand the importance of education and send their daughters to school.

Now, Shameem teaches in a rural school in her hometown. “The first day I walked into the school” she said, “I saw all these little Shameem looking at me with dreams in their eyes, the same dream of freedom which I had in my childhood.”

In the 13th century, Marco Polo, the world known Italian traveller, saw many wonderful things in China. One of the things he discovered was money made of paper. People in the West did not have such kind of money until the 15th century. 1.

Paper was invented by a Chinese man called Cai Lun almost 2,000 years ago. But it was not made in Europe until the year 1100. Four hundred years later, a German discovered that he could make the best paper from trees. 2.

Paper can be used in many ways. The common uses include newspapers, magazines and books. But do you know that paper can be used for keeping warm? In Finland, the farmers wear paper boots to keep their feet warm in the snow. And even houses can be insulated (使绝缘的) from heat or cold with paper.

However, we have to understand that paper still comes from trees now.  3. Every day people throw away about 2,800 tons of paper in our city. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting down nearly 48,000 trees every day. The fact is that it takes more than 10 years for a tree to grow.

4. We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can make useful things out of used paper. We can use china cups instead of paper ones. When shopping, we can use fewer paper bags and reuse them if we have some.

In short, we should keep a balance (平衡) between using paper and protecting trees, and do it now before it is too late.

A.So we must start saving paper right now.

B.If we keep on wasting so much paper, there will not be any trees left on the earth some day in the near future.

C.However, the Chinese began to use it in the 7th century.

D.So it is the right time to stop making paper from trees.

E.After that, countries rich in forests, such as Canada, Sweden, America, Finland became the most important ones in paper making.

What’s the first thing that you notice when passing your favorite restaurant? The smell of fresh pizza? Or the sight of your favorite desserts? Food that looks and smells good will probably taste good, but what about sound?

Scientists now believe that the taste of food can change when you hear different sounds, but it has to be the right sound. When you mm on a microwave with popcorn in it, it soon starts to pop. Do you think “That sounds tasty!”? Not really, you probably think it’s nearly ready. But when you smell it, you know it is delicious. Hearing the popcorn makes you think about it, but smelling it tells you that it tastes good. So what are the sounds to change the tastes of the things?

In an experiment in a fish restaurant, customers listened to the sound of the seaside while eating. Did it make a difference? Yes. Listening to the seaside seemed to improve the taste of the food. It was fresher and saltier. When the restaurant tried the same experiment with the sound of the farm animals, there was no difference in taste. The results are useful for restaurants. Perhaps they will use fewer unhealthy things like sugar and salt in food. With the right music or sounds, we won’t taste the difference.

Restaurants are also setting a connection between food and the sound that the packet makes. Pick up a packet (包装袋) of potato chips, what does it sound like? Experiments show that the packet making a right sound will make customers think the potato chips are fresher .So one restaurant recently changed the material that they used to make their potato chip packets. Another idea is that a list of music will begin to appear on food packets, so if you don’t like your green vegetables, the right music or sounds could help you learn to love them.

A.a list of pop music B.the sound of waves C.the sound of farm animals

4.The material of the food packet is important because the customers ________.

A.want it to look right

B.enjoy looking at the different materials

C.think the food is good if it makes the right sound

5.What could be the best title of the passage?

A.Right Sound, Good Taste

I am so worried about my son’s health that I can’t help writing to you. Last night, a school night, my 11-year-old son’s baseball team played a game that lasted until 9:30. By the time we got home and he had a quick dinner and shower, it was 10:30 — an hour and a half later than a child who gets up at 6:30 should be going to bed. We love baseball. My son is having fun, getting exercise, and learning patience, teamwork and sports spirit. But the truth is that the game also influences his sleep.

As parents, we want good things for our children. We want them to be healthy both in body and in mind. To this end, we look for ways to help our kids grow and develop. We help them with their homework. We send them to all kinds of classes — dance, soccer and baseball. We encourage our kids to take honors courses (培优课程) or to have after-school jobs. And we praise them for hard-earned success and achievements.

However, the ironic thing is that all of these activities and responsibilities that we are giving our children to make their lives colorful could be badly influencing their health and taking happiness away. Activities, responsibilities, and goals are good. But if we want our kids to realize their full physical, learning and social ability, sleep is important. We have to start taking sleep seriously.

Parents make bedtime routines and carry out strict rules about nighttime. But in fact, these measures (措施) aren’t enough because getting our kids enough sleep isn’t just about carrying out (实行) stricter bedtime. It actually requires more than that. In order to ensure our kids get the sleep they need, both parents and schools should make an effort.

1.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the first paragraph?

A.The writer’s son spent too much time taking a shower.

B.The kid who gets up at 6:30 am should go to bed at 8:30 pm.

C.The writer’s son learns a lot and has a good time in the baseball team.

2.From Paragraph 2, we know that parents ________.

A.want the best for their children

B.are able to teach their children to dance at home

C.pay more attention to children’s mind than body

3.What’s the best meaning of the underlined word “ironic” in the third paragraph?

A.讽刺的 B.公平的 C.奇特的

4.From the passage, we can infer that ________.

A.activities and responsibilities are sure to make children unhealthy and unhappy

B.not only parents but also schools have made efforts to help kids get enough sleep

C.some children may not have enough sleep because of too many after-school activities

5.What might happen if the headmaster read this letter?

A.More after-school classes might be given to students.

B.The school might make some rules to make sure students go to bed early.

C.Parents might be advised to make their children’s lives more colorful.
