Hula hoops (呼啦圈) were a very popular toy for kids in the past. Millions of people still remember playing with the brightly colored rings, trying to swivel (旋转) their bodies to make the hula hoop move. People can't stop swiveling their bodies until the hula hoop falls. This is not only great fun, but also great exercise. It is very interesting to see how long people can keep the hoop going.

Who is Li Ziqi? For 7 million YouTube viewers and 20 million Weibo users, that's an easy question to answer. These days, the 29-year-old vlogger's videos about her country life went viral (走红). Her fans call her "the goddess of nature".
She is worthy of this title. In her video, she is a master of many kinds of skills such as cooking, painting, designing and farming. Li wears hanfu that she made herself. She also feeds silkworms in order to make quilts. Li grows plants as well. She is often seen preparing meals with vegetables picked from her backyard. She eats a seasonal diet.
Li grew up with her grandparents in a small village in Sichuan province. When she was 14, she went to the city to work, but returned to the countryside in 2012 to take care of her sick grandmother.

In the past, clothes were passed down to younger brothers or sisters. But now most of us are only children. The economy has developed and people are buying more clothes.
Every year in China, people throw away about 26 million tons of old clothes, according to the China Association of Resource Comprehensive Utilization (中国资源综合利用协会). Most of them are buried (填埋) or burned (焚烧) as waste. It's a huge waste of energy.
"In many countries, charity shops collect and resell second-hand clothes," Zhao Guoliang, a professor at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, told Beijing Morning Post. "It's the best solution to this problem."
In some countries, it can be fashionable to shop for used clothes at charity shops like Oxfam. British singer Victoria Beckham has said she buys from Oxfam. "It's amazing to see what people throw out and it's good to help such a great place," she told Heat magazine.
Recycling clothes is catching up in China. Fashion brand H&M is asking people to put their old clothes into special boxes in their 45 stores in China. Some of the clothes will be resold after being cleaned. Some will be used to make other things, such as toys or cloth rags.

Most people will think about erasers only when they need to change something on their paper. In fact, erasers have a long history.
The history of the eraser began in the 1700s. There were lots of rubber trees (橡胶树) in South America. People got rubber from the trees and made many things with it. A man from France visiting South America saw this material (材料). He thought it was special and useful. So he sent some to his friends in Europe to study. Some went to a man in England. His name was Edward Nairne.
One day, Edward was writing on his table and needed an eraser. But he didn't use a piece of bread, a popular eraser at that time. Instead, he used a piece of rubber that was on his table. To his surprise, it worked better than bread. That was when Edward had an idea. Soon, he started to make rubber erasers and sell them.
How does the eraser work? When you write on paper, small pieces of graphite stick (粘贴) to paper. Graphite is the black material inside pencils. When you move an eraser on paper, it becomes warm. When it's warm, graphite sticks to it and words come off the paper.
