Stamps help connect us with others. They...

Stamps help connect us with others. They have played an important role in people's lives for a long time.

Stamps pay for a letter to get where it needs to be. When there were no stamps, people did not pay for the letters they sent, but instead they paid for the letters they received. The first stamp ever made is called Penny Black. It is a British stamp made in 1840 with a picture of Queen Victoria on it. The number of people who send letters and use stamps has gone down. But stamp collection is still one of the world' s most popular hobbies. There are even stamp clubs to help people find new stamps to add to their collections. Interestingly enough, the Internet may have reduced the need for stamps, but it is actually helping collectors find more stamps to add to their collections.

One day two workers were fixing electrical wires(电线) in the house. While they were working they met a problem: they couldn’t put a thin wire through a long narrow pipe. Because this pipe was long, thin and not straight. After thinking for some time, one of them, Frank, had an idea. He told his partner, Harry, what he needed.

Naturally, Harry was a little surprised. Thirty minutes later, Frank returned with two small white mice. He told Harry to hold one carefully then run away to that end of the pipe. Harry did so. Frank held the other mouse, at the other end of the pipe. Then Frank tied the wire around the mouse ‘s neck, and spoke to Harry, “Now , very lightly press the mouse.” Harry did as he was told. The mouse made a soft sound.

When the male mouse heard the sound, he began to run out of Frank’s hand into the pipe toward the sound. Of course, the male mouse was carrying the wire. Frank held the other end of the wire in his hand. After a few seconds the male mouse came out of the end of the pipe where the female mouse was. The problem had been solved. The wire was passed through the long pipe.

Everyone may come across difficulties when dealing with something, don’t give up immediately. Maybe you can get better methods to solve them if you consider it in another way.

1.One day, one of the two workers met a problem while fixing electrical wires.

2.After thinking for a minute, Frank had an idea and asked Harry to get two white mice.

3.The male mouse ran out of the man’s hand to look for the female one after hearing her sound.

4.Each of the two workers stayed at two different sides of the pipe with a mouse when they were ready to fix the electric wires.

5.Perhaps the writer wants to tell us one will seldom be hopeless if he usually changes a point of view.
