Once upon a time, there was a king. He only had one leg and one eye, but he was very smart and kind. Everyone lived a happy and healthy life because of the king. One day, the king was walking through the palace hallway and saw the paintings of his ancestors(祖先). He thought that one day his children would also walk in the same hallway and remember all the ancestors through these paintings. He wanted his children to remember him, too. So he invited many famous artists to his palace.
All of the artists began to think about the king's physical disabilities. How could his painting be made very beautiful? It was not possible. They weren't sure what his painting would be like. So one by one, they all started to politely refuse to make a painting of the king.
But suddenly one artist raised his hand and said he would make a very nice painting of the king. The king became happy hearing that. Then the artist started painting. After a long time, the painting was ready.
When the artist showed the painting, everyone was shocked. In the painting, the king was sitting on a horse, on the one-leg side, holding his bow(弓箭)and aiming(瞄准)something with his one eye closed. The king was very happy and gave him lots of money.
As we all know, no one is perfect. So we should try to focus on(关注)others' advantages instead of their disadvantages. Just take an optimistic view(乐观的观点)of the event. Everyone can do a good job.

We all know the strange feeling of watching the time change on a clock. You never really see it change because the hands move so slowly. But, of course, the time is changing all the time.
Human faces, like clock faces, are also changing. And like clocks, the changes take place too slowly to be noticed. Over many thousands of years, though, huge changes are possible. For example, the human brain is three times as large as it was thousands of years ago. Our faces became fatter, and began to think more.
If our heads became larger in the past, how will things change in the future? Unlike the changes of a clock face, the changes in human faces are very difficult to predict(预测). One of the main reasons for this is the way in which we can now control parts of nature. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, all changes were natural, but now we can actively choose paths for our own evolution(进化).
A US artist named Nickolay Lamm has recently offered an idea. It is what human faces may one day look like. The designs, inspired(受启发)by his conversations with the scientist Alan, show humans with larger heads and eyes. In particular(特别的), Lamm predicts the forehead may be larger because of increasing usage of the brain.
Just a few hundred years ago, most humans were working in the fields. However, nowadays more and more people receive education. These are just predictions, and no one can be sure how human beings will become in the future. But with such huge changes in our environments, it seems likely(很可能)that we will not look the same in the future.

Huck is my name, Huckleberry Finn. The story started when my best friend, Tom Sawyer and I found $12, 000 in a cave. That money made us rich. We got $6, 000 each. Judge Thatcher, an important man in St. Petersburg, put it in the bank, and now we get a dollar a day interest(利息).
Then a kind old lady called Widow Douglas invited me to live with her because I haven't got a family or a home. My mother died a long time ago, then my dad, Pap, disappeared. He was a violent(狂暴的)man especially when he drank a lot, which was most of the time, and he often beat me. I was scared of him. I didn't go to school like the other boys of my age. I lived on the streets and in the woods.
My life changed after I lived with the widow(寡妇). She gave me a bed to sleep in and bought new clothes for me. She read stories to me and taught me how to eat at a table. But then her sister Miss Watson arrived. She brought her black slave(奴隶)Jim with her. I liked Jim but I didn't like Miss Watson very much. She often shouted at me.
Widow Douglas sent me to school every day. I didn't like going there at first because learning was very difficult. But when I could read and write a bit, I didn't mind going.
The months passed and winter came. The weather got cold. One morning I woke up and there was snow on the ground. On my way to school. I saw some footprints outside the widow's house. There was a cross on the heel(脚后跟)of the left one. My heart jumped. Only one person wore boots with a cross on the left head! Pap!
"He's heard about my money, "I thought. "And he wants it!"
That night I went to see Jim. Jim had a magic ball made of animal hair. There was a spirit inside the ball that could answer people's questions about the future.
