Most of us have made an exercise plan, but only a few can follow it. WebMD (an American website) has listed the following tips for making exercise a habit in your life.

1.

Remember, there's no rule that says you have to go to a sports center or buy equipment like swimming suits. Many types of activities, such as pushup, can be done whenever it is rainy or snowy.

2.

Don't go home first. Few people are so motivated that they will go out again and exercise after they go home and change clothes.

3.

Tiredness is not an excuse. While exercising, you breathe deeply and your body makes better use of the oxygen exchange. Then, you will feel energetic.

4.

It's great when your clothes fit better. You can lift heavier things or take exercise longer. There's something good too, like getting a good night's sleep or thinking more clearly.

5.

Not everyone can start out with 10,000 steps a day. Use a pedometer, and find out your daily steps. And then, try your best to walk 300 extra steps each day. Finally, you can reach 10,000 steps a day.

If you are in charge of a project, the key to success is getting everyone to volunteer to help you. As a director, I point. I suggest. I gently push the actors in the direction I want them to go.

In the 1986 movie, Nothing in Common, Jackie Gleason's character, Max Basner, gets fired from his job as a clothing salesman. The scene, shot on a boat, shows Max's despair about being out of work. I was looking for some gesture that would allow Max to show his feelings.

Jackie had far more experience at everything than I did, and at first I was frightened. What could I possibly tell "The Great One" about acting? Out of fear I decided to direct by suggestion, and sat down with Gleason to talk about the scene. "So Max is sad, right?" I said.

Gleason nodded.

"And he's probably still carrying his pens with name on them the ones he used to hand out to his customers, right?"

Gleason nodded.

"So what would you want to do with the pens after you were fired?"

He was silent for a moment, "Why don't I throw them overboard?"

I stood up and turned toward the crew. "Hey, everybody, Jackie has a wonderful idea. Let's shoot it."

After filming the scene, Gleason called me over and smiled at me, "Garry, what kind of wonderful idea am I going to have tomorrow?"

Everybody knows that Earth spins from west to east. That is to say, it appears to be turning counterclockwise (逆时针) rapidly when viewed from above the North Pole. But what if Earth started spinning the other way?

Scientists from Germany have made a computer simulation in which Earth spins in the opposite direction clockwise when viewed from above the North Pole. This showed them some interesting things about the weather and geography on Earth, Live Science reported.

As Earth spins in a counterclockwise direction, it shapes certain ocean currents (洋流). The direction of ocean currents, together with winds, produces different weathers around the globe. But a backward spin changes the ocean currents and winds. Western areas of the lands on Earth cool down as the eastern parts warm up. Winters become even colder in northwestern Europe, while eastern Russia becomes warmer than before. Rain no longer falls on the planet's wettest places.

Another result of a backward spin is that Earth becomes greener. Scientists found that global desert (沙漠) areas reduce from 42 million square kilometers to 31 million square kilometers. This may have something to do with the changing weather. Therefore, you can see rich green landscapes from Central Africa to the Middle East, which are mostly covered with deserts now. More surprisingly, the Sahara Desert becomes an oasis.

However, deserts don't disappear. They just appear in some places in which they never appeared before. Deserts would cover North America, where countries like the United States and Canada lie. Sand dunes would replace the Amazon rainforest in South America.

A backward spin would keep the main features (特征) of Earth's geography, such as the size, shapes and positions of lands and oceans. But it would change the interactions between circulating air, ocean and geography, lead scientist Florian Ziemen told Live Science.

1.What would a backward spin bring to Earth?

A.The direction of ocean currents and winds would be different.

B.Rain would no longer fall on western areas of the lands on Earth.

C.Deserts would become larger and cover the planet's wettest places.

D.The size, shapes and positions of lands and oceans would be changed.

2.Which of the following sentences can be put in the blank of Paragraph 3?

A.Anyway, deserts cover the planet.

B.Therefore, the weather is different.

C.However, the positions of oceans changes.

D.Surprisingly, the area of lands is larger.

One Sunday morning in June my mother walked into my room. "Surprise!" she said, proudly holding up a yellow dress with black and white stripes. "I made it just for you. What do you think?"

I bit my tongue. How could I tell Mum it was the ugliest dress I had ever seen?

"It's perfect for church," my mother continued delightedly. "I wish someone had made a dress like this for me."

Too bad you can't wear it, I thought. But I knew Mum had spent a lot of time on the dress. Only the world's most ungrateful daughter would refuse. Unwillingly I put it on.

All through church I prayed, "Lord, let me get out of here without anyone seeing me." Especially Dennis Pearce, the boy I had a crush on. He was one of the cutest boys at Neptune High School. Although we were in some of the same classes, Dennis had never taken any notice of me. Every time I got near him, I became tonguetied.

At the end of the service I hurried to the door. But I had to wait on the steps while my parents chatted with their friends. Just a little while longer… Then out of the corner of my eye I saw the Pearce approaching. Before I could escape, Dennis was right beside me.

I started talking a mile a minute, hoping if I kept it up he wouldn't notice my awful dress.

"I'm going to college in September," I said.

"That's great," Dennis replied, "I got accepted to police academy."

"Wow!" I said. Somehow I kept the conversation going. Soon we were walking to the parking lot together. The next thing I knew Dennis had asked me out on a date!

We fell in love through college, and finally got married. Months after our wedding I asked Dennis if he remembered the day he had first asked me out.

"You bet I do," he said. "You were always quiet in school, almost coldhearted. I didn't think you'd be much fun. But you were so lively when we talked on the church steps, I wanted to get to know you better." Maybe that zebrastriped yellow dress wasn't what I would have chosen, but that day it was the perfect dress for me.

1.What did the writer think of the dress?

C.stop him noticing her dress D.get to know him better.

4.What is the best title for the passage?

A.A perfect dress. B.An excellent mother.

C.A creative date. D.An unforgettable service.

Painting and writing on walls is nothing new. In prehistoric times, people in Africa and Europe painted pictures of animals and people in caves.
