How to Invent a Product

1.

It's unnecessary to think of something that no one has ever thought of before. Just ask yourself what exactly you are trying to improve or solve? If you want to build a better dust mop (拖把),how will it be better? What interesting or important part does it have? What could you do differently?

2.

Try coming up with 15 solutions in a minute, no matter how crazy. Or choose one of the solutions and ask how is that like my idea? "How and why does it work?" "When, where and how is it used?" "How is it described?" Let your questions and imagination come up with new ideas or find a different way of looking at a problem

3.

Visit stores that offer products similar to what yours will do and even go as far as to ask store workers for products they might sell with a similar purpose. If you have a name for your product created, search this to find out whether it is already being used.

4.

This is often the longest part of inventing! Thomas Edison's lab tested more than 6,000 different materials for light bulbs before they came up with one that worked. Make the model until it works the way you want. Sometimes you might discover an entirely different idea.

5.

When you think you've got everything ready, it's time to make a working model of your invention --- a prototype. This is what you'll use to show people what it will look like and how it will work. You can use this prototype to show and introduce to the people who might have interest.

A.Research your invention.

B.Brainstorm

C.Ask for advice.

D.Find a problem worth solving.

E.Make your invention to a reality.

F.Build, test, rebuild, repeat.

Plastic is all around us. It's in the TVs we watch at home, the desks we use at work, and the pens we write with at school, even wrapped around the food we buy. Some people have had enough of plastic, though, and have chosen a new lifestyle. These people have become plasticarians, meaning they try to live life without buying or using plastic.

British student Thomas Smith decided to go plastic-free, telling reporters, "A bit of plastic you had for a second lasts longer than your lifetime." Smith tried to avoid buying anything that had plastic in it, which made getting even the simplest items, like toilet paper, difficult. Over a period of six months, he lost five kilograms in weight and finally gave up.

Beth Terry, a woman in California, has lived mostly plastic-free for more than six years. For Beth, choosing a plasticarian lifestyle came out of concern for the planet and her health. Studies have linked some kinds of plastic to cancer and heart disease, and chemicals in these plastics can influence a baby's development. That's why sonic doctors say it is important that women who arc having babies in their bodies avoid eating food stored in plastic containers.

It's never too late to start reducing the amount of plastic. You can start by giving up bottled water and teas. Instead, buy a reusable stainless-steel bottle and bring drinks from home. You can also buy food from farmers' markets, where fresh produce and meat are not packaged in plastic. Finally, it's better to use soap and shampoo bars that are wrapped in paper than liquid soaps and shampoos that come in plastic bottles.

While cutting plastic out of your life all at once may be too much to manage, every journey begins with one step. Choose one plastic item to live without today, and you will be on your way to a healthier life and a cleaner planet.

B.He thought that plastic could help him lose weight.

C.He wanted to be healthier.

D.He wanted to help the environment.

3.Which of the following statements in NOT true, according to the article?

A.You should use a plastic bottle and fill it with water over and over again.

B.You can start to bring drinks from home rather than buy bottled teas at a store.

C.It's better to buy soap and shampoo bars wrapped in paper

D.Studies have shown that chemical in the plastics can be harmful to a baby's development.

4.In the last paragraph, the writer is mainly ________.

A.showing a prediction using plastic in our daily life

B.introducing the results of cutting plastic out of life at once

C.expressing a feeling about stopping using plastic things

D.giving advice on cutting down plastic use

How much time do you spend looking at your smartphone, tablet or computer every day? These electronic devices help us in many ways, but they may also cause health problems.

Too much screen time can cause eyestrain which leaves your eyes feeling dry and sore and could also affect your eyesight. To help your eyes stay healthy, follow the "20-20-20" rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Your eyes aren't the only parts of your body that could become worse from using electronic devices. People who write a lot of text messages can develop an injury called texting thumb". The repeated movement of typing with thumbs can cause thumb and wrist pain and lead to the loss of grip strength (握力受损).To avoid this, do this exercise: put a rubber band around the tips of your five fingers and open your hand to stretch the rubber band. Repeat this a few times.

Scientific research suggests that electronic devices can also hurt your mind. One of the biggest problems is that using these devices can affect your sleep patterns. Doctors say the screen light stop you from feeling sleepy. So they advise people not to use electronic devices for at least one hour before trying to sleep.

Another serious danger is Internet addiction (). Many people turn to the Internet to ease feelings of stress, sadness, and loneliness. Over time, they might start to depend on the Internet and feel worried if they're not connected. To stop yourself from falling into this kind of trap, limit the amount of time you spend on line.

To use your smartphone or computer safely, just make sure you follow these health tips. Also, remember that there is more to life than looking at an electronic screen.
