Man Up! ______ in November. Shout Mouse Press made the book. Shout Mouse is a company that shares stories written by local teens. Mary noted that one of the ______ challenges was to create a main character who seemed real. The book needed to be fun but also teach a ______, she said. The three writers got their start as after-school teachers to help younger students ______ their reading skills. Then last summer they joined a ______ workshop. That's where they learned to write a children's book. Cathy Taylor leads Shout Mouse. She began helping teens put out their books in 2013. She said teen writers ______ younger kids. Shout Mouse lets them share ______ they have learned growing up.
"It needed to be talked about in the open, " said Shirley. "Young boys ______ not be shamed for their feelings. " Man Up! is about a boy named Aron. Someone laughs at him because he likes crying. He cries ______ he’s upset by a hurt dog or friends who cheat at video games. Aron is lucky, though. He has an older, understanding brother he can turn to. He learns that talking about his feelings is a good thing.
Ben hopes the story will help readers to understand other people's feelings. "Maybe they will put themselves in Aron's ______ and ask, "How would I feel?'' he said. The three writers said they would like to make ______ book.
