My wife and me spent two weeks in London...

My wife and me spent two weeks in London last year. We went here in autumn. We stayed in a small hotel in the West End. It was convenient as we do most of our sightseeing on foot. Taxis was quite too expensive. We couldn’t understand the bus routes, but my wife didn’t like traveling by the underground. She said it made her to feel sick. We went to look at the places which all tourists see. We saw the Buckingham Palace. We came shopping in Oxford Street and spent too many money. What we liked most, though, was going to theatre.

me改为I        here改为there  do改为did      was改为were   but改为and     by改为on或去掉the  去掉to         came改为went  many改为much   to后面加the 【解析】 试题分析:  me改为I      在本句指My wife and I在句中是主语,所以都使用主格形式。  here改为there 本句中的there是指前句中提及的London。 by改为on或去掉the 固定搭配by underground或者on the underground坐地铁。  去掉to       固定搭配make sb do sth让某人做某事;后面使用不带to的不定式。  came改为went 固定搭配do shopping购物,本文是过去时,所以使用went。  many改为much 后面的名词money是不可数名词,所以使用much修饰。  to后面加the 固定搭配go to the theater去看电影。 考点:考查学生在上下文语境中对词汇语法的掌握情况

Earlier, in the old days, women used to sit at home separated from the outside world. They used to manage the home and look after children. They were free of the responsibility of earning money to support the family, which was left to men.

With the coming of industrialization (工业化) and technological development, the lifestyles of human beings started to change. The needs of human beings started to grow. In this process, women slowly started to move outside the home. Women received the same education as men. Gradually, women slowly started to think independently and participated equally with men in all fields of life, including politics, sports and even military.

With changing environments, the role of women has become more important in society. To match today’s standard of living, it is necessary for both men and women to support the family.

Today, women have been given bigger roles to play in society. They are even taking more responsibility than men. At first, men disagreed with women pursuing (追求) their careers outside the home. However, with growing needs and a shortage of money, they had no other way but to accept the reality.

One day I heard that one of my dear friends had lost his mother. This made me sad, for my friend was very close to his mother. He had been by her side as she traveled through her long and hard journey with cancer. At this time, many memories about my loved ones that had passed away came flooding to me. Finally these memories passed, but it was really sad to think that my friend would have to go through the pain.

Three times I tried to write an email to my friend and three times words failed me. I am a person who is not often lost for words and I decided to have a sleep. Everything in this universe is balanced and indeed it is. Three days later, I received his reply letter. I was happy to hear that he’d been admitted to (录取) Cambridge University. It served as a gentle reminder for me that my friend would be okay and that life would go on.
