Yesterday, I saw the old lady fall down when I went to school. I was going to help him up. At that moment, a passer-by stop me, saying I might be considered to knock her down. Hearing from his words, I began to slow down my steps. However, another student, that saw everything, went quickly up to help. The old lady said anything but lots of thanks to the good boy. I felt badly and ashamed. Helping other is forever a virtue of China. We can let it disappear. I will try my best reach out my hand without hesitation next time.

Lazy people will never amount to anything in life. However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.

1.   Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation once they arrive home. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to procrastinate(拖延). By adjusting your sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day.

Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active. Some people treat their lives as if they were pushed from project to project. Others take a more proactive approach, viewing each project or task as a challenge they must overcome alone.     2.

Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations(诱惑) that surround them. A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often promotes laziness. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for a child to promote responsibility. Complete a certain number of chores and reward yourself with a good dinner.  3.

4.   Spouse(配偶) and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not addressed quickly. To fight household laziness, lead by example. Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal. Others in the home may eventually follow your example and perform their own chores. It is difficult to practice laziness when you are surrounded by motivated people.

5.    Enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help boost your mood.

A. Knowing how to fight laziness is important.

B. One way to fight laziness is to get enough sleep.

C. Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home.

D. If you have a hobby, celebrate after completing a project.

E. Finally, taking exercise regularly can help you fight laziness.

F. With strong determination, you will be able to achieve your goal.

G. Laziness sets in when you no longer feel in charge of your own life.

Like the post-90s generation in China, today’s teenagers in the UK have a problem with how they’re represented. Most of them feel unfairly represented by the media and their lives are negatively (负面地) influenced, says a recent survey.

The survey was carried out by the UK Demos, in which more than 1000 14-17-year-old teens from England and Northern Ireland took part.

The survey report shows that four-fifths of teens (81%) felt there was a false image of young people in the media and wider society. Most of them (85%) said that it is hurting both their self-esteem(自尊) and chance of getting a job.

By researching six UK newspapers over the past 10 years, Demos found that words most commonly connected with “teenagers” and “young people” were “binge-drinking”, “yobs” and “crime”.

“The young people out there are doing good things for the community, but there are always bad things on the news. But we’re not all like that, it’s only a few,” said Becky Brunskill, 18, member of Youth Parliament for Liverpool.

The survey also found that 80% of UK teenagers believed they cared more about social issues than the older generation. This was a view shared by their teachers, 66% of whom agreed in a separate Demos survey of 500 teachers.

The UK youth are also eager to make a difference. But rather than traditional politics, 87% of the teens believed social media was a good way to change society.

Jonathan Birdwell, author of the Demos report, said “They could be the most active citizens we have seen in a generation.”

1.What problems are current UK teenagers troubled with according to Demos?

A. Their bad school image.

B. The media’s negative image of them.

C. Their false social relationships.

D. The difficulty of getting jobs.

2. How many people think that the false image is hurting their self-esteem?

A. 800    B. 810    C. 850    D. 1000

3.We can guess the underlined words “binge-drinking” and “yobs” are about          .

A. something bad B. something good

C. students      D. adults

4. What can we tell from the passage?

A. Few young British people are doing good things for the community.

B. British teenagers care more about their parents than social issues.

C. Young Britons are inactive in trying to prove themselves.

D. Young Britons believe social media is a good way to change society.
