One day, one of the young man came to visit her and asked her to become his wife. She answered, “No, John, I don't marry you. I want to marry a man who is famous, who can play music instrument and can sing and dance very good, who can tell interested stories, who does not smoke or drink ,who stay at home in the evenings, who stops talking when I'm tired of listening.” The young man got up, took his coat and went to the door, however, before he left the house, he turned and said to Bertha, “It isn't a man you're looking for. It's a television set.”

1.lot 后加of 2.去掉with 3.men 4.don’t 改为won’t 5.instruments 6.well 7.interesting 8.stays 9. 短语one of... 10.】however改为but 考查连词。 My favorite sport are football. (is) Now my picture and prize is hanging in the library. 例如: …so that I’ll get good marks in all my subject. I’m sure we’ll have a wonderfully time together. (wonderful) Unfortunate, there are too many people in my family. Now I am interesting in football. (interested) Play football not only makes us grow up tall and strong but also … (playing) My parents love me… and will do all they can ∧ make sure… It was very kind for them to meet me at the railway station and… (of) We must keep in mind that we play for the team instead ∧ ourselves. (of) 六. They ∧eager to know everything about China and… (were) I live in Beijing, where is the capital of China. The Smiths did his best to make me feel at home. (their) First, let me tell you something more about myself. (去掉more) … no way of setting the matter except by selling the set. Now someone at home reads instead.

Allow them to study in blocks of time, such as for half an hour with a five-minute break in the middle.

2.Ideal (理想的) study times are after dinner or right after school before dinner.

Foxes and farmers have never got on well. These small dog-like animals have long been accused (控告)of killing farm animals. They are officially considered as harmful and farmers try to keep their numbers down by shooting or poisoning them.

Farmers can do call on the services of their local hunt to control the fox population . Hunting consists of hunting a fox across the countryside, with a group of specially trained dogs, followed by men and women riding horses. When the dogs eventually catch the fox , they kill it or a hunter shoots it.

People who take part in hunting think of it as a sport ; they wear a special uniform of red coats and white trousers , and follow strict codes of behavior. But owning a horse and hunting regularly is expensive, so most hunters are wealthy.

It is estimated (估计) that up to 100,000 people watch or take part in fox hunting . But over the last couple of decades the number of people against fox hunting , because they think it is cruel, has risen sharply. Nowadays it is rare for a hunt to succeed without some kind of confrontation between hunters and hunt saboteurs(阻拦者). Sometimes these incidents lead to violence, but mostly saboteurs fight with the hunt by misleading riders and disturbing the search of the fox’s smell, which the dogs follow.

Noisy confrontations between hunters and saboteurs have become so common that they are almost as much a part of hunting as the hunting of foxes itself. But this year supporters of fox hunting face a much bigger threat to their sport. A Labour Party Member of the Parliament, Mike Foster, is trying to get Parliament to pass a new law which will make the hunting of wild animals with dogs illegal. If the law is passed, wild animals like foxes will be protected under the ban in Britain.

1.What is special about fox hunting in Britain?

A. It involves the use of a deadly poison.

B. It is a costly event which rarely happens.

C. The hunters have set rules to follow.

D. The hunters have to go through strict training.

2.A new law may be passed by the British Parliament to ________

A. keep farmers from hunting foxes.

B. forbid hunting foxes with dogs.

C. stop hunting wild animals in the countryside

D. prevent fox hunting in large numbers

3.Which can replace the underlined word in paragraph 4?

A. reunion(联合)     B. conversation(对话)

C. conflict(冲突)     D. relationship
