Many students think we can go on-line as much as possible in our spare time because we are free then. Through the Internet, we can gain plenty of the newest knowledge and the latest information at home and abroad. What’s more, network offers us a convenient way to communicate with each other. The Internet makes our lives outside class colorful and various. On the other hand, a few students partly agree to this idea. Going on-line is part of our daily life. But they suggest a time limit. They’ve found that more students are playing computer games or chatting instead of studying their lessons or looking up materials. There are a few students who are often absent from school in order to go on-line for fun. I think we should make proper use of the Internet. What's the most important is that as students we should put our hearts into our studies. There are a few students who are often absent from school in order to go on-line for fun.名词性从句What's the most important is that as students we should put our hearts into our studies.同时文章中还使用了较多的串联词,如what’s more、on the other hand等等。这些写作技巧的运用让范文显得很出色。 考点:考查议论文写作

With computers becoming more and more popular in China, Chinese people are increasingly relying on computer keyboards to input Chinese characters (汉字). But if they use the computer too much, they may end up forgetting the exact strokes(笔画)of each Chinese character when writing on paper. Experts suggest people, especially students, write by hand more.

Do you write by hand more or type more? In Beijing, students start using a computer as early as primary school. And computer dependence is more wide-spread among university students. Almost all their writings are typed on a computer.

All the students interviewed say they usually use a computer.

It’s faster and easier to correct if using a computer. And that’s why computers are being used more and more often to modern education. But when people are taking stock in computers increasingly, problems appear.

“When I’m writing with a pen, I find I often can’t remember how to write a character, though I feel I’m familiar with it.”

“I’m not in the mood to write when faced with a pen and paper.”

Many students don’t feel this is something to worry about. Now that it’s more convenient and efficient to write on a computer, why bother to handwrite?

Many educators think differently. Shi Liwei, the headmaster of a famous primary school in the capital said “Chinese characters enjoy both practical and aesthetic(审美的) value. But those characters typed with computer keyboards only maintain their practical value. All the artistic beauty of the characters is lost. And handwriting contains the writer’s emotion. Through one’s handwriting, people can get to know one’s thinking and personality. Beautiful writing will give people a better first impression of them.”

To encourage students to handwrite more, many primary schools in Beijing have made writing classes compulsory(必修的)and in universities, some professors are asking students to turn in their homework and essays written by hand.

1.Which of the following can BEST serve as the title of the passage?

2.The students interviewed prefer to write using a computer mainly because        .

A. they can correct the mistakes they make quickly and conveniently

B. they are usually asked to e-mail their homework and essays

C. they find it not easy to remember how to write a character

D. computers have become a trend and fashion in China

3.The underlined expression “taking stock in” in the fourth paragraph probably means         .

A. getting bored with            B. getting dependent on

Traveling without a map in different countries, I find out about different “styles” of directions every time I ask “How can I get to the post office?”

Foreign tourists are often confused in Japan because most streets there don’t have name signs. In Japan, people use landmarks in their directions instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, “Go straight down to the corner. Turn left at the big hotel and go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop.”

People in Los Angeles, the US, have no idea of distance on the map: they measure distance by time, not miles. “How far away is the post office?” you ask. “Oh,” they answer, “It’s about five minutes from here.” You don’t understand completely, “Yes, but how many miles away is it, please?” To this question you won’t get an answer, because most probably they don’t know it themselves.

People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions because tourists seldom understand the Greek language. Instead, a Greek will often say, “Follow me.” Then he’ll lead you through the streets of the city to the post office.

Sometimes a person doesn’t know the answer to your question. What happens in the situation? A New Yorker might say, “Sorry, I have no idea.” But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers “I don’t know.” People there believe that “I don’t is impolite. They usually give an answer, but often a wrong one. So a tourist can get lost very easily in Yucatan!

However, one thing will help you everywhere in the world. It’s body language.

1.Which of the following is probably an example of Japanese directions?

A. “Turn right at the hospital and go past a school.”

B. “Go south two miles. Turn west and then go another mile.”

C. “The post office is about five minutes from here.”

D. “The post office is at Street Kamira.”

2.Why don’t people in Los Angeles give directions in miles?

A. They use landmarks in their directions instead of distance.

B. They prefer to lead you the way.

C. They often have no idea of distance measured by miles.

D. They prefer to use body language.

3.How do Greeks give directions?

A. Using street names.

B. Using landmarks.

C. Leading people the way.

D. Giving people a wrong direction.

4.Which of the following is NOT true?

A. There are different ways to give directions in different parts of the world.

B. People in Yucatan always give right directions.

C. People in some places give directions in miles, while in other places in time.

D. A person’s body language can help you understand directions.
