My dream school starts at 8:30 a.m and ends at 3:30 p.m. They are three lessons in the morning and two in the afternoon. We didn’t need to do so many homework. Therefore , we have more time with after-school activities. For example, we can do reading for one and a half hour and play sports for one hour every day.

My dream school look like a big garden. There are all kinds of the flowers and trees around the classroom buildings. We can lie on the grass for a rest, or sat by the lake listening music. The teachers here are kind and helpfully. They are not only our teachers but also our friends.

1.They-----There 2.didn’t------don’t 3.many----much 4.with----for 5. hour---hours 6.look----looks 7.the flowers 去掉the 8.sat---sit 9.^to music 10.hopefully---hopeful 【解析】 试题分析:本文介绍我的理想学校。 1.They-----There 考查there be的句型。They are three lessons in the morning and two in the afternoon. 所以They应改为There。 We didn’t need to do so many homework. 3.many----much 名词homework是不可数名词,不能与表示可数的词如many, few, a number of, a good many等连用。所以应将many改为much。 4.with----for 考查介词搭配。Therefore, we have more time with after-school activities. We have time for sth. For example, we can do reading for one and a half hour and play sports for one hour every day. My dream school look like a big garden. 7.the flowers 去掉the 考查冠词。There are all kinds of the flowers and trees around the classroom buildings. We can lie on the grass for a rest, or sat by the lake listening music. I am looking for some matches. Do you have any matches? I do not have any matches. Will you lend me some money? (=Please lend me some money.) Come any day you like. He has many friends, but few true ones. There hasn't been much good weather recently. (2)many a: many a和many同义,但语气比较强,并且要与单数名词及单数形动词连用。 Many a prisoner has been set free. (=Many prisoners have been set free.) 3. (a) few和(a) little的用法: (a) few用在复数可数名词之前,(a) little用在不可数名词之前。 He took a few biscuits. (=several) He took little butter. (=not much) 4. (1) plenty of, a lot of, lots of均表许多,修饰复数可数名词或不可数名词。 The room contained plenty of (or a lot of or lots of) students.(复数名词) The room contained plenty of (or a lot of or lots of) furniture.(不可数名词) (2) a great (or a good) deal of, a large (or a small) amount of, 均表(量), 修饰不可数名词。 The room contained a great deal of furniture. (不可数名词) (3) a number of “许多;一些”;a great (large, good) number of “许多”,修饰复数可数名词,并且要与复数动词连用。 A number of books are missing from the library. 注意:(the number of +复数名词←→单数动词) The room contained a great (or large or good) number of students.(复数可数名词) (4)the rest of “其余的”, 可接复数可数名词及不可数名词,作主词时,接可数名词则用复数动词,接不可数名词则用单数动词。 The rest of the students are absent. (复数可数名词) The rest of the water was thrown away.

Would it surprise you to learn that, like animals, trees communicate with each other and pass on their wealth to the next generation?

UBC Professor Simard explains how trees are much more complex than most of us ever imagined .Although Charles Darwin thought that trees are competing for survival of the fittest, Simard shows just how wrong he was. In fact, the opposite is true: trees survive through their co-operation and support, passing around necessary nutrition “depending on who needs it”.

Nitrogen(氮) and carbon are shared through miles of underground fungi(真菌) networks, making sure that all trees in the forest ecological system give and receive just the right amount to keep them all healthy. This hidden system works in a very similar way to the networks of neurons(神经元)in our brains, and when one tree is destroyed, it affects all.

Simard talks about “mother trees”, usually the largest and oldest plants on which all other trees depend .She explains how dying trees pass on the wealth to the next generation, transporting important minerals to young trees so they may continue to grow .When humans cut down “mother trees” with no awareness of these highly complex “tree societies” or the networks on which they feed, we are reducing the chances of survival for the entire forest.

“We didn't take any notice of it .” Simard says sadly. “Dying trees move nutrition into the young trees before dying, but we never give them chance.” If we could put across the message to the forestry industry, we could make a huge difference towards our environmental protection efforts for the future.

1.The underlined sentence “the opposite is true” in Paragragh2 probably means that trees________.

A. compete for survival

B. depend on each other

C. provide support for dying trees

D. protect their own wealth

2.“Mother trees” are extremely important because they________.

A. look the largest in size in the forest

B. know more about the complex “tree societies”

C. pass on nutrition to young trees

D. seem more likely to be cut down by humans

3.The underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refers to        .

A. how “tree societies” work

B. how trees grow old

C. how forestry industry develops

D. how young trees survive

4.What would be the best title for the passage?

A. Old Trees Communicate Like Humans

B. Young Trees Are In Need Of Protection

C. Trees Contribute To Our Society

D. Trees Are More Awesome Than You Think
