“Hello, Earth! Can you hear me?” That’s voice more than 400,000 people received recently. It was from Philae, a space vehicle that landed on a comet(彗星)in 2014. However, its transmissions (传输信号)back home went silent since then.
It took a 1ong time for Philae to make its way across the solar system (太阳系)and reach comet 67P/C-G. The pace vehicle got there aboard the Rosetta probe (探测器), which has been circling around the comet since Philae separated from it in November, 2014.
Philae’s job was to collect materials to study the comet’s composition. And for about two and a half days after landing, it did just that, sending the information back to scientists on Earth. But Philae’s landing on the comet’s icy surface had not been smooth. While touching down, it jumped up and ended up in the shadow of something like a huge rock. Philae runs on solar power, but there was no light in the place where it landed. In the end, it failed to work.
However,as comet 67P/C-G moved closer to the sun, more sunlight reached the space vehicle, allowing it to power up and come back online. Philae then sent something to Rosetta, which passed on the information back to Earth.
“We only received the information for about 85 seconds, but that’s enough to let us know it is alive and well,”says Stephan Ulamec, who works for the European Space Agency.“We hope to work out where it landed exactly on the 4-kilometer-wide comet. Now we plan to change how Rosetta moves so that Philae can keep on communicating and receiving instructions.”

Peter Huszcz once taught in an agricultural (农业的)college. In the 1990s, he moved to Canada. Peter started out washing dishes in a restaurant in downtown Ottawa. When the manager asked him to help out rolling meatballs in the kitchen, he soon 1earned how to do the job very well. But it was boring and Peter suggested that the manager should buy a meatball-making machine. “How do you explain the fact that even though you were both blind and deaf, you were able to accomplish so much?” Queen Victoria of England asked Helen Keller.
Ms Keller answered, “If it had not been for Anne Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.”
In fact, “Little Annie”, as she was called when she was young, was no stranger to hardship. She was almost sightless herself (due to a childhood fever) and was, at one time, diagnosed as hopelessly “insane” and was locked in the basement of a mental institution. On occasion, Little Annie would even violently attack anyone who came near.
An elderly nurse believed there was hope, however, and she made it her mission to show love to the child. She still continued to visit for she believed Little Annie could recover, if she was shown love.
Eventually, doctors noticed a change in the girl. Where they witnessed anger and coldness they noted gentleness and love. They moved her upstairs where she continued to improve. Then the day finally came when this seemingly “hopeless” child was released.
Anne Sullivan grew into a young woman with a desire to help others as she, herself, was helped by the kind nurse. It was she who saw the great potential in Helen Keller. She loved her, disciplined her, played with her and worked with her until the weak candle became a beacon of light to the world. She worked wonders in Helen's life; but it was a loving nurse who first believed in Little Annie and lovingly transformed an uncommunicative child into a compassionate teacher.
“If it had not been for Anne Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.” But if it had not been for a kind and dedicated nurse, the name of Anne Sullivan would have remained unknown. And so it goes. And how far forward will it lead?
1.When she was young, Little Annie________.
A.enjoyed being locked in the basement of a mental institution
B.complained about her loneliness
C.showed her friendly attitude to others
D.suffered from mental illness
2.Why did the “hopeless” Little Annie change into a helpful one?
A.Because an efficient way was found by doctors to cure her illness.
B.Because a nurse who was concerned about her helped her constantly.
C.Because she was taken good care of by her relative.
D.Because the illness was defeated by her own strong will.
3.How did Anne Sullivan help Helen Keller?
A.She devoted all her time to dealing with everything for Helen Keller.
B.She promised Helen Keller never to leave her.
C.She trained Helen Keller to control her behaviour.
D.She encouraged Helen Keller to make friends with others.
4.Which of the following might be the best title for the text?
A.A caring nurse
B.Chain of love

Whenever the word “hero” comes to me, I immediately think of three Hs: honourable, hardworking, and happy. When I think more about this word, I picture someone who has accomplished good things for people and tries to do the right thing. Recently, a famous basketball player has caused public angry by writing on the Great wall. In the fact, this happens in many place of interest. I had some suggestions to solve this problem.
First, make more posters to inform the public the damage of graffiti(涂鸦). Besides, punishments, such as a fine, is necessary to tourists with so bad behaviors. Also, I think it’s helpfully to put up some boards along the tourist attractions that tourists can leave messages.
I’m sure with our efforts, more and more people will become concerning about protecting cultural relics.
