Tolerance means tolerating or pulling up with differences.
1.This concept means different things to different people, but it is when something is disagreeable that tolerance is expected, and in more politically correct cultures, demanded.
There are many different ways to show tolerance. A person might fully disagree with other on any issue, while at the same respecting those with different opinions and treat them with dignity2..
One problem is the fact this respect is sometimes one-sided. 3., but some supporters feel reasonable in labeling those who disagree with hateful terms, and vice versa.People on both sides of an issue must be tolerant of each other.
4. ,It does not mean that a person has to accept actions or ideas that are against his or her values or beliefs. it means that each person agrees to respect the other's right to his or her feelings on the matter. When both parties have expressed their opinions, and it is obvious that neither is likely to change position, agreeing to disagree is often the ideal outcome.
Some degree of tolerance is necessary in any civilized society.5..It goes against human nature. Putting up with differences is a virtue that requires honest effort on the part of every person. It takes time to develop.
A.Therefore, both parties should change their opinions if necessary.
B. It is widely accepted that tolerance is a critical step towards a peaceful world.
C.It refers to showing respect for the race, religion and opinions of other people.
D. Disagreement alone does not equal intolerance.
E. However, it is not realistic to believe that all people can achieve it completely on every issue.
F.Those who disagree with a particular issue must respect the opinions of those who support it.
G. When it comes to controversial issues, tolerance may also represent a let's agree to disagree attitude.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is gaining global popularity. According to a government white paper, TCM has been introduced in 183 countries and regions around the world.
Westerners' understanding of TCM, however, may be limited to acupundure, cupping and massage (针灸,拔罐和按摩). For instance, the purple, injury-like marks left on US.swimmer Michael Phelps' back from cupping for the purpose of relaxing his muscles and reducing pain became the center of attention during the Rio Olympics in 2016.
As a matter of fact, Chinese herbs play a more important role in getting rid of diseases and keeping the body in good condition in the TCM treatment system than physical treatment. It is therefore disheartening to know that-while 103 World Health Organization member countries have given approval to the practice of acupuncture, not many recognize Chinese herbal medicine TCM falls far behind Western medicine owing partly to the slow development of Chinese herbs.
Herbs, are made into pills, powder and soup, and the kind of herbs uscd1 their quality and quantity, and the processing of the ingredients jointly determine the effectiveness of the prescription. Compared with Western medicine, which has standardized drug production processes and treatment methods, TCM lacks standardization, with the chemical composition and functions of its medicines being unclear and their effects being unstable. Fortunately, standardization has improved in recent decades, with an increasing number of factories producing patented TCM drugs.
Another factor that has prevented the development of TCM prescription drugs is the lack of creativity, While Western medicine-making companies come up with new products every year, TCM drug producers tend to make medicines according to prescriptions handed down from the past. Chinese chemist Tu Youyour's winning the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her research into malaria(疟疾)treatment may drive creativity to some extent in China's TCM industry. However, the current state of affairs cannot be changed within a short time.

Don't get mad the next time you catch your teenager texting when he promised to be studying. He simply may not be able to resist. A University of lowa(UI) study found teenagers are far more sensitive than adults to the immediate effect or reward of their behaviors. The findings may help explain why the initial rush of texting may be more attractive for adolescents than the long-term pay off of studying.
"For the teenager, 'the rewards are attractive." says Professor Jatin Vaidya,an author of the study. "They draw adolescent. Sometimes, the rewards are a kind of motivation for them. Even when a behavior is no longer in a teenager's best interest to continue, they will, because the effect of the reward is still there and lasts much longer in adolescents than in adults ."
For parents, that means limiting distraction (分心的事情)so teenagers can make better choices. Take the homework and social media dilemma: At 9 p.m., shut off everything except a computer that has no access to Facehook or Twitter, the researchers advise. "I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed access to technology," Vaidya says. But some help in netting their concentration is necessary for them so they can develop those impulse-control skills.”
In their study,Vaidya and co-author Shaun Vecera note researchers generally believe teenagers are impulsive(冲动的),make bad decisions, and engage in risky behavior because the frontal lobes(额叶)of their trains are not fully developed. But the UI researchers wondered. whether something more fundamental was going on with adolescents to cause behaviors independent of higher-level reasoning.
"We wanted to try to understand the brain's reward system how it change from chillhood to adulthood," Says Vaidya, who adds the reward character in the human brain is easier than decision-making. “We've been trying to understand the reward process in adolescence and whether there is more to adolescence behavior than an under-developed frontal lobe,”he adds. For their study ,the researchers persuaded 40 adolescents, aged 13 and 16,and 40 adults, aged 20 and 35 to participate.
In the future, researchers hope to look into the psychological and neurological(神经学上的)aspects of their results.

B. Always, rewards are attractive to teenagers.
C. Resistance can be controlled well by adolescents.
D. Getting rewards is the greatest motivation for adolescents to study.

A. The influence of the reward is weak in adolescents.
B. Parents should help children in making decisions.
C. Children should have access to the Internet.
D. Children need help in refocusing their attention.
3.What result does teenagers' brain underdevelopment lead to?
A. Doing things after some thought.
B. Making good decisions.
C. Joining in dangerous actions.
D. Escaping risky behavior.
4.How did the researchers carry out their study?
A. By making a comparison of brain examinations.
B. By examining adults’ brain.
C. By examining teenage brain.
D. By building the train’s reward system.
It's a little hard to figure out the rules for sure but the baby African buffalo (水牛)seems to have the upper hand. The two stand a couple feet apart, staring at each other. Behind them, their mothers look on with the kind of indifference (不关心)of mothers everywhere who see their kids playing a harmless game.
The alarm went off about half an hour ago, the second time tonight. Here, one bell means "elephant ",two "rhino"(犀牛),and three and four,I really can't remember for what, because when you' re awoken by bells in the middle of the night, your first thought won’t be Animal", But as soon as I realized it was the rhino alarm, I was running for the stairs.
Yet I'm the only one watching the animals stare-down. Either nobody else died of a heart attack when the bells went off, or I was the only one in the entire hotel who didn't turn the alarm switch to off before going to bed.
The Ark, a hotel shaped like the biblical ark(圣经的方舟), lies in the highlands of Kenya’s Aberdare National Park, about 100 kilometers north of Nairobi. At the Ark's prow (船首) are huge windows overlooking a waterhole. Earlier tonight,I'd watched a pack of wolves, buffalos and elephants. And now, at Three or so in the mornings I'm down for the round of rhino bells. The first time, 2.5 hours ago, it was a single black rhino, which came down, got a drink, and left.
I'd have been sorry for the lost sleep. I've already arranged with a guide to take me out at sunrise for the so-called "should-never-missed" bird-watching, where well get to see 30 species, but really, how many times in your life will you get to wake up and say,"Wow! Rhino? Isn't that the definition of a pretty good right? Last week we went from Uganda into Kenya,Before I left home, I thought I'd be happy with ten elephants and five or six giraffes on the whole trip.I didn't dare to dream the rhino.

A. It's bothering but two bells are welcome.
B. It should be turned off whenever it rings,

3.What does the underlined part “died of a heart attack" in paragraph 3 mean ?
A. died unexpectedly

4.What did the author see at about 3:00 a.m.?
A. Two buffalos were fighting fiercely for food,
