Note-taking is a skill that can help you do well in all your schoolwork---- everything from taking tests to researching a paper. There are many ideas that can help you take better notes.
1.You' ll be disorganized if you try to write down every word that’s said in class. And if you pay too much attention to getting your notes right, you might miss listening to what the teacher is saying. So you just need to write down the most important points from class.
Learn to ask.2.If the teacher's going too fast, your classmates will also be happy to hear the information again. If you don’t want to ask in class see your teacher afterwards
Compare. Going over your notes with a friend and comparing what the two of you put down can help master what you're learning. It can also help you remember information when it's time for a test.3.
Copy. If you’ve scribbled(潦草书写) down notes in a hurry, you might not be able to read them when it comes time to prepare for a test.4.Copying them also helps you learn and remember what you wrote
Organize. Keep notes for each subject in one place.5.This could mean keeping a notebook or part of a notebook for each subject as you take notes in class
A. Write down key points
B. Listen carefully to the teachers
C. This can help you do better on a test
D. In this way, you can find everything easily
E. Don't be afraid to ask the teacher to repeat something you miss
F Reviewing your notes will also help you and your friend find out mistakes
G. Look over your notes when you get home, and write them again if you need to.
In their Sunday magazine, The New York Times recently put out an interesting nature article: "Why Do We Feed Wild Animals? " It seems that quite a few people do. Between 20 and maybe as high as 35 percent of families in Australia, Europe and the United States feed birds in their apartments, according to author Helen MacDonald. She writes that "Americans spend over $3 billion each year on food for wild birds". It's a costly sum for people to find some pleasure while helping the birds find a tasty meal.
Of course Helen MacDonald rightly points out that we are finding pleasure from just certain types of “acceptable” animals that we come across as cute. Who in their right mind would put out food to draw mice or cockroaches(蟑螂)? MacDonald also writes that having a diversity(多样性) of animals in your town or community can suggest the health of your neighborhood. For example, how many people would want to move to a place where only mice and cockroaches live? Often we choose to live in places where there are plenty of parks and a diversity of animals nearby. The decrease of just one animal species may suggest the deterioration of local habitat
In the end, living in peace with others is important, whether they're humans, birds, fish or other animals, even plants. We are all connected and all part of the natural environment. AS Helen Mac Donald points out in her article, growing up as a child with birdfeeders means a lot to her because it taught her" a lot about the habits of animals and how to understand their thoughts and needs. Animals are not humans, but they are like us enough to give us a special and strong sense of family relationships

3.What does the underlined word "deterioration" in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Worsening B. Use C. Influence D. Character
4.What does Helen think of her growing up as a child with birdfeeders?
A. It encouraged her to speak for birds
B. It helped her meet many birdfeeders
C. It made her learn more about animals
D. It taught her to value family relationships
I'm a speaker and give hundreds of speeches every year. I spoke about appreciation last month and I used this quote by Albert Schweitzer: " Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by meeting with another human being. Each of us should express the deepest thanks to those who have relighted this inner(内心的) light
I asked my audiences to shut their eyes and think about someone who, at some time in their lives, has relighted their inner light. Then I left the room in silence for several minutes. It was always a meaningful experience as they remembered the joy they felt from another person
One day, a gentleman came up to talk with me and thanked me for creating a new awareness(意识)in him. He said he thought of his eighth-grade history teacher because she was everyone's favorite teacher and had truly made a difference in all of their lives. After several days, the gentleman found his history teacher and he wrote to her. The following week he received this letter
Dear John
You will never know how much your letter meant to me. I am 83 years old, and I am living all alone in one room. My friends are all gone. My family’s gone. I taught 50 years and yours is the first "thank you" letter I have ever gotten from a student. Sometimes I wonder what I did with my life. I will read and reread your letter until the day I die
The gentleman was sad, "She is always the one we talk about when we have a get-together. She is everyone's favorite teacher-- we love her! But no one had ever told her until she received my letter.
