There are 24-hour banks at London’s two main airports. One is Heathrow and the other is Gatwick. Otherwise, banks are usually open from 9:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday. Barclays Bank and National Westminster Bank offer a Saturday morning service at some of their branches. One exception to this is the Trafalgar Square office whose opening hours are 8:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, and 10:00 to 17:00 on Sundays.

If you are overseas visitor, you can change money at Bureaux de Change. Also some large hotels, department stores and travel agents offer such services. But be sure to check in advance the rate of exchange, as these vary a lot. In Britain, there is a holiday specially designed for banks. That is the Bank Holiday. On Bank Holiday, banks will be closed and bank workers will have a short vacation.
