W: This week we’re going to talk about Castle Howard, in Sussex. Castle Howard was badly burnt in a fire two years ago. A lot of paintings and furniture got damaged and it has taken a lot of hard work and patience to restore it back to its previous condition. It will be open to the public for the first time in two years on Sunday the 2nd of April. The opening times are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. As of May the 1st Castle Howard will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to sunset.

You’ll be able to visit it all through the summer until the 1st of October, when it will be closed again.

It’s well worth a visit. You’ll need a whole day just to wander around its splendid rooms. Of particular interest is the Dining Room in the West Wing with its fascinating collection of china, dating back to the 17th century, when the Howards first came to live in this building.

You should also take advantage of its wonderful grounds. You can even have your lunch in the open-air restaurant behind the castle. Castle Howard’s a great day out for all the family with its convenient prices too! For a family of four, the children get in free of charge.
