W: Welcome to Music World. I'm Patti and our guest this week is every band's favorite songwriter, Carl Ryder.

M: Hi, Patti.

W: Thanks for coming to our program, Carl. Is life in the music business all fun, or are there any disadvantages?

M: Well, it is fun, yes, but if you want to be successful it is hard work. That can cause problems. For example, I wish I had more free time.

W: What would you do, if you didn't have so much work?

M: Well, if I had time, I'd go to more concerts. It's good for me to hear new bands.

W: I hope you'll get a break soon. But what about new songs? Are you writing any new songs at the moment?

M: Oh yeah, I am. But it's tiring, because I'm trying to write new songs in the evening and in the day I'm going to meetings, working with singers and so on. I wish I wasn't so busy. It would be good if I could spend a few weeks somewhere just writing songs.

W: Well, I know you can't go away now, but if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

M: If I went away now, I'd choose somewhere warm and sunny, but quiet.

W: But wouldn't you be bored if it was a quiet place?

M: No, because I'd write songs. I wouldn't want to talk to people if I had songs to write. Of course I'd go somewhere lively if I didn't have any work to do at all, somewhere with lots of clubs and good shops!

W: OK, Carl, thank you for giving us your time today.

M: You're welcome.
