The clothes you wear. The food you eat. ...

The clothes you wear. The food you eat. The color of your bedroom walls. Where you go and how you get there. The people you hang around with. What time you go to bed. What do these things have in common? You're asking. They're just a few examples of many hundreds of things that your parents controlled for you when you were a child.

As a kid, you didn't have a say in everything; your parents made decisions about everything from the cereal you ate in the morning to the pajamas you wore at night. And it's a good thing, too--kids need this kind of protection on their own.

But finally, kids grow up and become teens. And part of being a teen is developing your own identity one that is separate from your parents'. But as you change and grow into this new person who makes your own decisions, your parents have a difficult time adjusting(调整).

In many families, it is this adjustment that can cause a lot of fighting between teens and parents. And issues like the type of friends you have or your attitudes to partying can cause bigger arguments, because your parents still always want to protect you and keep you safe, no matter how old you are.

The good news about fighting with your parents get more comfortable with the idea that their teens have a right to certain opinions. It can take several years for parents and teens to adjust to their new roles, though. In the meantime, focus on communicating with your parents.

Sometimes this can feel impossible-like they just don't see your point of view and never will. But talking and expressing your opinions can help you gain more respect from your parents.

Keep in mind, too, that your parents were teens once and that in most cases, they can relate to what you're going through.

They're just a few examples of many hundreds of things that your parents controlled for you when you were a child.(当你还是个孩子的时候,你的父母为你控制了很多事情,而这些只是其中的几个例子)和第二段中的And it's a good thing, too--kids need this kind of protection on their own.(这也是一件好事——孩子们需要自己的保护)可知,前两段主要列举了父母控制孩子日常生活的几个例子, 作者认为这是好事, 孩子本身就需要这份关爱。 But as you change and grow into this new person who makes your own decisions, your parents have a difficult time adjusting(调整).(但当你改变并成长为一个自己做决定的新人时,你的父母很难适应)及第四段中的In many families, it is this adjustment that can cause a lot of fighting between teens and parents.(在许多家庭中,正是这种调整导致了青少年和父母之间的冲突)可知,当孩子逐渐长大,有个人决定的时候,家长很难适应这种变化。 故选A。 3. 根据第四段中的because your parents still always want to protect you and keep you safe, no matter how old you are.(因为无论你多大,你的父母总是想要保护你,保护你的安全)可知,无论孩子多大,父母总是想要保护孩子,让他们不受到伤害。 Why do I Fight with Parents so Much?(为什么我总是和父母吵架?)

I am a mother of three and have recently completed my college degree.

The last class I had to take was Sociology(社会学). The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called “Smile.” The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document  their reactions.

I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway, so, I thought this would be a piece of cake. Soon after we were given the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald’s one cold March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did.

I did not move a bit… a strong feeling of fear welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a terrible “dirty body” smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was “smiling”. His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of hope as he searched for acceptance.

He said, “Good day” as he counted the few coins he had been holding. The second man was obviously mentally disabled. I held my tears as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, “Coffee is all, Miss,” because that was all they could afford (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm.)

Then I really felt it the desire was so great I almost reached out and hugged the little man with the blue eyes.
