When you spend too much time studying you will quickly lose focus and the time spent in studying will become ‘junk time’. You think you're studying but you're just sitting there re-reading the same sentence about 100 times and you're not getting anywhere. Many of us like to do the easy things first to build our confidence. That’s fair enough. The only challenge with this approach is that you use up your primary energy at the start of any study period and so if you are dealing with the easy parts with your primary energy your batteries will be low when it comes the time to deal with the hard part. So what happens then?4.We all do it. We really shouldn't, though. So develop the habit of giving your primary energy to the hard tasks and completing the easy stuff last.

Do we really have to explain this? Just turn them off for an hour, we promise the world will still be there when you log back in! Don't text your friends, don't chat while doing memory activities,don't make phone calls, just focus on what you're doing. Even if you focus on work' for 15 minutes followed by 5 mins of chatting, it’s better than 30 minutes of work while also chatting! You get that right?

Mike Flint was Buffett’s airplane pilot(飞行员). Flint had also flown four US Presidents, so we can safely say he was good at his job. According to Flint, he was talking about his career(事业) priorities (优先事项) with Buffett when he asked him to go through a 3-step exercise.
STEP 1: Write down his top 25 career goals(目标). So, Flint took some time and wrote them down.
STEP 2: Review his list and circle his top 5 goals. Again, Flint took some time, made his way through the list, and at last decided on his 5 most important goals.
STEP 3: At this point, Flint had two lists. The 5 items he had circled were on List A and the 20 items he had not circled were on List B.
Flint said that he would start working on his top 5 goals right away. And then Buffett asked him about the second list, “And what about the ones you didn’t circle?”
Flint replied, “Well, the top 5 are my primary focus (焦点), but the other 20 come in a close second. I still plan to give them my efforts.”
Buffett said, “No. You’ve got it wrong. Everything you didn’t circle just became your Avoid-At-All-Cost list. These things get no efforts from you until you’ve succeeded with your top 5.”
This is why Buffett’s strategy (策略) is great. Items 6 through 25 are things you care about. So you can’t help paying attention to them. And then you get 20 distractions (分心的事物) to stop you from focusing on(集中) your top 5 goals. Spending time on secondary priorities is the reason you have 20 half-finished goals instead of 5 completed ones. So force yourself to focus. The most dangerous distractions are the ones you love, but that don’t love you back.

We don’t know when and where the next earthquake will hit. But we do know the importance of safety and preparation. The only way to be ready for the unexpected is to prepare ahead of time. It’s especially important if you live in earthquake zones. So here are some important steps to build your own Earthquake Action Plan.
1. Talk to your friends and families and decide on a place to meet if you’re separated after an earthquake.
2. Make an emergency(紧急情况)communication plan in case cell towers or phone lines are down. You can also ask relatives or friends outside your area to be your contacts.
3. Locate a safe place in every room of your house and discuss with your families the safest places to be during an earthquake. Remember, if you’re:
a. Inside, get under something heavy like a study table or against an inside wall and cover your head.
b. Outside, stay away from buildings and get out into the open.
c. In your car, stop and stay in your seat. If you’re stopped near a building or under an overpass(天桥),try to safely move away from it.
4. Store first-aid kits(急救箱)anywhere you spend a lot of time(house, car, workplace, etc. ).
5. Pack plenty of batteries, flashlights, and bottles of water to prepare for power outages and water shortages.
6. Review your home’s important systems(electrical, gas, water, etc. )and know how to operate them or shut them off in an emergency.
Although they’re somewhat unusual, earthquakes are incredibly terrible, overwhelming, and unpredictable forces of nature. But with some knowledge and preparation, we can mitigate risks and do the best we can to keep ourselves and our families safe.

She Walked Through Fire
On Thanksgiving weekend, the Heffelmire family gathered for a meal at their home. After dinner, the family went down to the finished basement to relax except Charlotte’s father, Eric, who was in the garage to fix his truck.
Around 8 p.m., Charlotte decided to check on her dad. She walked through the kitchen. When she opened the side door to the garage, black smoke rose up into the kitchen. She could barely make out her father lying on his back, trapped under the truck. He’d removed the front passenger-side tyre and raised the truck on a jack(千斤顶). The truck had slipped off the jack, and now the whole weight of the wheel was on his chest and shoulders.
Charlotte ran to the front of the truck and struggled to lift it. Eric was still conscious, and he yelled, “You got it! One more try!” She tried again and was able to tip the truck backward just enough for her to pull her dad by the shirt with both hands from under the truck.
She dragged him across the garage and 20 feet down the driveway. Then she ran back to the garage, which had burst into flames. “I was afraid the car was going to explode,” says Charlotte, so she climbed into the truck, which faced forward, turned the key, and pressed the gas pedal(油门). The car slowly rolled out, the metal wheel scratching loudly against the concrete.
Safely on the driveway, Charlotte stopped the truck and ran back to the basement. “There’s a fire! Everybody get out!” she yelled as she picked up her three-month-old niece and ran out. Outside, she handed the baby to her mom, and then ran around to the burning garage. She picked up a garden hose(水管)and sprayed the fire while calling 911.
A few minutes later, firefighters and an ambulance arrived. Charlotte was treated for second-degree burns on both her feet and face. Her dad had injuries on his chest and shoulders, as well as minor burns on his face. The garage and the house were damaged but the family survived.
The Heffelmires are staying in an apartment while their house is rebuilt. “Charlotte is a remarkable kid,” says her dad. Charlotte, however, simply says, “ I was saving my family and my house. I wasn’t going to let my dad die.”
