Building trust inside your team

A team without trust isn’t really a team: it’s just a group of individuals, working together, often making disappointing progress. 1. So how can you, as a leader, help your team to build the trust that it needs to develop? In this article, we’ll look at the issue of trust within teams and what you can do to build it.

Lead by example.

If you want to build trust within your team, then lead by example, and show your people that you trust others. This means trusting your team, your colleagues, and your boss. 2. They are taking cues(提示) from your behavior. Take the opportunity to show them what trust in others really looks like.

Know each other personally.

One way to build trust is to encourage your team members to know each other. Think about creating situations that help them to share personal stories, and to bond. 3. Start by sharing some personal information about yourself, and then ask someone else about a hobby, or a musical interest.

4. .

When people work together, there will be honest mistakes and disappointments, and it’s easy to blame someone for these. However, when everyone starts pointing fingers, an unpleasant atmosphere can quickly develop. This lowers trust, and is finally unproductive.

Discuss trust issues.

If you manage a team that has trust issues, it’s important to find out how these problems originate, so that you can come up with a strategy for overcoming them. Consider giving team members a questionnaire to fill out anonymously(匿名的). 5. Once you’ve read the results, get everyone together to talk about these issues.

A.Do not place blame.

B.Try to avoid mistakes and disappointments.

C.Ask them about the reasons for their lack of trust.

D.Do this by asking sensitively about their family or hobbies.

E.Never forget that your team members are always watching you.

F.Instead, encourage everyone to think about the mistake positively.

G.However, when trust is in place, the group can achieve meaningful goals.

If you follow any people who like traveling on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed they’ve posted amazing photos from Portugal in the last few years, especially during peak summer months. Mario Fernandes, a co-creator and the editor of Golisbon said he had seen increased interest in traveling to Portugal in the past five years, particularly in the last two or three. Cindy Goldberger, a travel adviser for Hiatus, an agency in Brooklyn, New York, said that she noticed an increase in Portugal trips about three years ago and that she gets more requests to plan people’s visits there every year. According to Reuters, the number of foreign tourists visiting Portugal hit a record for 2017, and in the same year the country won the world’s leading destination at the World Travel Awards.

Fernandes suggested it’s because Portugal is safe and more affordable than many other Western European countries. The country’s frequent sunshine is also attractive to many visitors. The Algarve, the southernmost area of Portugal, is home to “some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches,” according to Fenandes. Goldberger noted that many airlines have offered better routes to the country in recent years. She’s also a fan of the new hotels that have opened, including farms that have become hotels.

Eric Hrubant, the president of Cire Travel, noted that there is another reason. “It’s a small country, yet you have cities with rich history, culture and food, as well as a lot of beach and golfing options,” he said. “In five to 10 days, you can have a vacation or honeymoon that caters to all of your senses and desires.”

Hrubant pointed out that celebrities(名人) like Madonna and newlyweds Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have moved to Portugal, which has put the country more popular.

So you don’t know where to go for a vacation this summer? Now you can make a better choice.

Brush turkeys are heading back into urban Sydney areas, according to an environmental expert, and there is not much people can do about it.

The Australian brush turkey has “big feet”. They damage people’s beloved backyards by raking up dirt to make large nests which can sometimes hold up to 56 eggs in one mound(土堆). This is because one male brush turkey can breed(交配繁殖) with up to six females who can lay up to 12 eggs.

The population of brush turkeys in Australia was severely reduced along the east coast in the 1960s after coming close to extinction during the Depression as they were easy to hunt for food. As a result, they become a protected species in the 1970s which made it illegal to shoot them.

“In the 1980s, they took over Brisbane, and Sydney is about 10 years behind what happened up here,” Professor Darryl Jones, deputy director of the Environmental Futures Research Institute at Griffith University, said. “Once they get into the city they work out there’s a lot of food and they have a fair bit of protection.”

While brush turkeys have cultural significance in Queensland, they can be annoying for many in Sydney. Former Central Coast resident(居民) Paul told 702 ABC Sydney that he had “an ongoing battle for years” with brush turkeys that built nests in his garden.

“We had plague proportions(瘟疫之灾) when we lived on the Central Coast. I was trying to grow food and vegetables but I had to give up,” he said. “They just completely dug them up. I was fighting a losing battle.”

But Sydney resident Joy thinks differently. “Brush turkeys are part of nature,” she said. “I’ve been able to successfully have a flower garden and a vegetable garden and have brush turkeys wander through the yard. The way I’ve done it is just to put sticks in the ground around the plants. I haven’t had any problems at all and people need to think of ways to overcome these problems rather than kill animals.”

1.What’s one characteristic of brush turkeys?

A.They are afraid of humans. B.They often build mounds to hide eggs.

C.They usually live in coastal areas. D.A female lays a dozen eggs each time.

2.Why were brush turkeys nearly dying out during the Depression?

A.They were over-hunted for their meat. B.They couldn’t find enough food.

C.They were hated and hunted by people. D.Their natural habitats were destroyed.

3.What troubled Paul was that_____.

A.a plague broke out on the Central Coast.

B.he was sometimes attacked by brush turkeys.

C.his garden was messed up by brush turkeys.

D.he had no place to grow food and vegetables.

4.What is Joy’s opinion of brush turkeys?

A.They do much harm to gardeners.

B.Their number should be controlled.

C.Sydney is suitable for them to survive.

D.People should live in harmony with them.
