Cancelled school, daycare and sports act...

Cancelled school, daycare and sports activities means that children are eating all of their meals and snacks at home. 1., social distancing also brings new opportunities.

Studies have found that children who regularly eat family dinners consume more fruits and vegetables, and fewer unhealthy foods than children who don’t. They’re also less likely to be overweight, and more likely to say no to smoking and drugs.

Being stuck at home also provides an opportunity for parents to teach children cooking skills that they can carry into adulthood. 2., and teaches them nutrition and food safety. And, research suggest, doing so may help children overcome picky eating by becoming more accepting of new foods. Besides, cooking and baking can be fun ways spend time while bonding with family.

3., however, healthy eating guidelines are the same for children and adults. Meals should be planned around healthy protein foods, vegetables and fruits, whole grains and healthy fats. It can be challenging, though, to feed children three well-balanced, nutritious meals day after day during the corona-virus crisis.

When you’re too stressed or too tired to cook, it’s easy to sometimes fall back on children-friendly meals, such as frozen pizza, pasta and cheese, or chicken fingers. That’s perfectly okay; these aren’t normal times.

4.. For example, offer sliced fruit or raw vegetables with the meal or heat up frozen peas to serve with chicken fingers.

As much as possible, keep a routine(常规)around your children’s meal and snack times, which helps to discourage snacking throughout the day.5.

A.While this can add a new stress for parents

B.That’s why it’s helpful to have some extra time at home

C.Kitchen activities may require children’s patience as they learn

D.Children at different ages need different amounts of specific nutrients

E.Sticking to a schedule allows children to feel hungry for their next meal

F.Involving children in the kitchen helps them learn where food comes from

G.When that’s the case, plan easy ways to improve the nutritional quality of meals

1. 根据前文“Cancelled school, daycare and sports activities means that children are eating all of their meals and snacks at home.” 后文“social distancing also brings new opportunities.( 社交距离也带来了新的机遇。)” A“While this can add a new stress for parents”提到这也会给父母增加新的压力,且句中while位于句首,应是引导让步状语从句,可与后文形成转折关系。故选A项。 2. 根据前文“Being stuck at home also provides an opportunity for parents to teach children cooking skills that they can carry into adulthood”可知,本段的话题应是“在家里也为父母提供了一个机会来教孩子烹饪”,由此推知设空句应提及“如何在厨房让孩子参与烹饪”有关的内容。选项F“Involving children in the kitchen helps them learn where food comes from”提到让孩子们参与厨房帮助他们了解食物的来源,且与后文“teaches them nutrition and food safety(教他们营养和食品安全)”相呼应。故选F项。 3. 根据空后“however”可知,设空句与后文“healthy eating guidelines are the same for children and adults(健康饮食指南对儿童和成人都是一样的)”为转折关系。 中的“different”与后文的“the same”为相反关系,且与后文“Meals should be planned around healthy protein foods, vegetables and fruits, whole grains and healthy fats.( 饮食应该围绕健康的蛋白质食物、蔬菜和水果、全谷物和健康脂肪进行规划。)” 4. 根据后文举例“For example, offer sliced fruit or raw vegetables with the meal or heat up frozen peas to serve with chicken fingers.(例如,提供切片水果或生蔬菜或热冷冻豌豆与鸡爪一起食用。)” G“When that’s the case, plan easy ways to improve the nutritional quality of meals”提及计划一些简单的方法来提高膳食的营养质量,可作为该举例的论证观点。故选G项。 5. 根据前文“As much as possible, keep a routine around your children’s meal and snack times, which helps to discourage snacking throughout the day.(尽可能在孩子吃饭和吃零食的时间安排一个固定的时间,这有助于阻止孩子一整天都吃零食。)” E“Sticking to a schedule allows children to feel hungry for their next meal.”

In recent years there has been a steady attack on salt from the doctors; salt is bad for you-regardless of your health. Politicians also got aboard."There is a direct relationship" US Congressman Neal Smith said "between the amount of sodium () a person consumes and heart disease circulatory(循环的)disorders stroke and even early death."

Frightening if true! But many doctors and medical researches are now beginning to feel the salt scare has gone too far."All these remarks and cry about salt is unnecessary" Dr. Dustan. insists. "For most of us it probably does not make much difference how much salt we eat." Dustan's most recent short-term study of 150 people showed that those with normal blood pressure experienced no change at all when placed on an extremely low-salt diet or later when salt was reintroduced. Of the hypertensive (高血压的) patients however half of those on the low-salt diet did experience a drop in blood pressure which returned to previous level when salt was reintroduced.

"An adequate to somewhat excessive (过度的)salt intake has probably saved many more lives than it has cost in the general population" said Dr. John H Laragh. "So an opinion that the whole population should avoid salt makes no sense."

Medical experts agree that everyone should practice reasonable “moderation” (节制)in salt consumption. For the average person a moderate amount might run from four to ten grams a day or roughly 1/ 2 to 1/3 teaspoons. One to two grams of salt would come from the natural sodium in food. The rest would be added in processing preparation or at the table.

"Na is not your enemy "says Comek’s Dr.Laragh. "Salt is the No.1 natural component of all human tissue and the idea that you do not need it is wrong. Unless your doctor has proven that you have a salt-related health problem, there is no reason to give it up. "

B.A low-salt diet may be good for some people.

3.What advice does Dr Laragh give in Para 3?

A.Experts should promote their study of salt.

B.Patients should eat adequate amounts of salt.

C.Doctors should not advise patients to avoid salt.

D.People should not be afraid of taking a bit excessive salt.

4.What does the author mainly want to tell us in the text?
