Every student can manage time to get good grades at school. However, how can you manage your time more efficiently(有效地) to study well? Well, you can arrange for time each day to read over notes. You needn’t study each of your subjects every day, but studying something every day will help you improve your grades. Take notes as you study, so you can use those notes to shorten your study time later. Even though studying is important, it do学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!esn’t need to control your time.

After-school activities are an important part of school life for many students. The journey toward good grades doesn’t mean you have to give up these activities. Instead, you need to find your personal balance between study time and extra activities. For example, if you play on the baseball team and work on the school paper, you may find that two activities are too much, and th学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!at you don’t have enough time to study and take part in these activities. If this is the case, you need to prioritize(区分优先次序) a学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!nd choose just one activity. Therefore, you’ll have time to study.

As you get closer to graduation, it becomes easier to think that class attendance isn’t important, especially later in college. Other activities, such as hanging out with friends and even working, can feel more important. However, class time is the time when you can ask questions and learn more about the material. Attending your classes regularly makes you get more information and helps you get better grades.

Any spare time you have during the day can be used for studying. For example, if you take a bus, use that time to read over your notes, or read your text. Any time in which you would just sit and wait is a good time to work on school work, so you can improve your grades. However, you need to learn to balance school work and relaxation time, so you don’t burn out.

Daniel Olin was 11 years old when his parents moved to Canada. He liked his new school and made friends there, but then things at home started to change. His mum and dad began to argue and the arguments got worse and worse until one day, Daniel's mum left. With his father working long hours, Daniel felt very lonely and very unhappy. He wanted to escape, to run away. And that's what he did.

Very early one terribly cold morning when the snow was deep on the ground, he packed a bag with some clothes, some chocolate and a map of Canada and set off to a forest. He ran and ran until he could hardly breathe. His feet were heavy with the snow but he still walked on through deep snow, not even watching where he was going.

Then, disaster struck. A rock hidden by the deep snow caught his feet and Daniel fell to the ground. He had broken the bone. He was very cold and was starting to feel tired, but he knew that if he fell asleep in the snow, he would certainly die from the cold.

A tree shook ahead. From within the branches(树枝), a pair of yellow eyes watched Daniel. The puma had been following him. A puma is a large wild cat with claws that could tear(撕开) Daniel into piece学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!s. From time to time, the puma pressed his muzzle (口鼻) against Daniel and rocked his head gently. Clearly, the puma knew that Daniel must not fall asleep. This animal should have been a real danger to Daniel and yet the boy began to feel safe.

No one knows exactly how many disabled people there are in the world, but the number may be over 450 million. The number of disabled people in India alone is probably more than double the total population of Canada.

In the United Kingdom, about one in ten people have some disability. Disability is not just something that happens to other people. As we get older, many of us will become less mobile (可动的) , hard of hearing or have failing eyesight.

Disablement can take many forms and happen at any time of life. Some people are born with disabilities. Many others become disabled as they get older. There are many progressive disabling diseases. The longer time goes on, the worse they become. Some people are disabled in accidents. Many others may have disability in the form of a mental illness. All are affected by people’s attitude(态度) towards them.

Disabled people face many physical barriers(障碍). Next time you go shopping or to work or visit friends, imagine what would you do if you could not get up steps, or on to buses and trains. What would you do if you could not see where you were going or could not hear the traffic? But there are other barriers: prejudice(偏见)can be even harder to break down and ignorance (无知) represents by far the greatest barrier of all. It is almost impossible for the able-bodied to fully understand what the disabled go through, so it is important to draw attention to these barriers and show that it is the individual person(个人) and their ability, not their disability, which counts.

1.The first paragraph points out that ___________.

A. we should try our best to prevent disablement

B. we must take a proper attitude towards the disabled

Mum, what does it mean when someone tells you that they have a skeleton(骨骼) in the closet (衣橱)?” Jessica asked. “A skeleton in the closet?” her mother thought for a while. “Well, it’s something that you would rather not have anyone else know about. For example, if in the past, someone in Dad’s family had been arrested for stealing a horse, it would be ‘a skeleton in his family’s closet’. He really wouldn’t want any neighbor to know about it.”

“Why pick on my family?” Jessica’s father said with anger. “Your family history isn’t so good, you know. Wasn’t your great-great-grandfather a prisoner who was brought to Australia for his crimes?” “Yes, but people these days say that you are not a real Australian unless your ancestors arrived as prisoners.” “Gosh, sorry I asked. I think I understand now,” Jessica cut in before things grew worse.

After dinner, the house was very quiet. Jessica’s parents were still quite angry with each other. Her mother was ironing clothes and from time to time she looked angrily at her husband, who hid behind his newspaper pretending to read. When she finished, she gathered the freshly pressed clothes in her arms and walked to Jessica’s closet. Just as she opened the door and reached in to hang a skirt, a bony arm stuck out from the dark depths and a bundle of white bones fell to the floor. Jessica’s mother sank in a faint(晕倒), waking only when Jessica put a cold, wet cloth on her forehead. She looked up to see the worried faces of her husband and daughter.

“What happened? Where am I?” she asked. “You just destroyed the school’s skeleton, Mum,” explained Jessica. “I brought it home to help me with my health project. I wanted to tell you, but it seemed that as soon as I said something about skeletons and closets, it caused a problem between you and Dad.” Jessica looked in amazement as her parents began to laugh madly. “They’re both crazy,” she thought.
